i am a girl and i believe in some of the womens rights (being able to vote and work with equal pay ect) but im not anywhere near hardcore feminist. i believe men should be gentlemen and girls should act like lady's is this bad? moreResolved Question: how womens rights changed womens fashions?
Im writing a 6-7 page paper on how womens righs changed womens fashion... i JUST started and all i have is this.. I want my intro and conclusion to each be a page too :( Many changes came of the womens rights movement. It brought changes in such things as womens fashion, suffrage, feminism, equal oppurtunity in work and education, and equal pay. All of these things have come a long way from before womens rights to now, especially the fashion. because of a snow storm, i have no books at home and i can only get on the internet for a little bit so right now im getting lucky so ill try to find any info i can. any help would be so greatly appreciated! moreVoting Question: I am writing a paper on womens rights and I need help writing a thesis. ?

i have been looking through the gender and womens studies section and i have been finding a lot of answers that seem like equality is not important to women. im curious..do you girls feel like you should be treated equally or payed equally or anyting?? and do you feel like you should be a housewife while your husband is the one to go out and be successful?? do you feel like you should obey your husbands?? or that you are underneath men?? i thought women wanted strength and significance(outside of child bearing)..i do. please just clear things up for me. thanks!! moreResolved Question: Feminism set the agenda for Womens Rights. Have Men even Begun to Identify where we Lose Out?
Feminism has rightly focused on issues that include equal pay, domestic violence, reproductive rights, harassment and a raft of other issues. Yet it seems almost a taboo to mention how many men die in the service of their nation. Perform dangerous jobs, that for whatever reason, very few women will take. We continue to be confused over whether to act as providers, or whether simply providing our company is good enough in affairs of the heart. I have read reams and reams of feminist literature, which addresses in great detail how womens roles have changed in todays society, and the fantastic gains that have been made. The challenges ahead. Yet I think, in a genuine sense that men have barely identified these challenges for ourselves. We want to be tough and macho, to be the protector and provider, even though it trashes our life expectancy and keeps us away from home. We seek approval by being good providers yet deny ourselves time for intimacy and fulfilling our potential. Not against women, but for ourselves, do we need a radical shift and change to catch up? Perhaps we don't, perhpas you would rather go back to how things were? What do you think? moreResolved Question: Can anyone name one thing McCain has done to support women?
Equal pay, discrimantion, etc....where has he stood when it comes to womens rights. And as a woman, do you care that the next president has the kind of record on womens rights that McCain has? moreResolved Question: Does the battle for equal roles get confused with the battle for equal rights?
There's a lot of talk about the pay gap, and womens capabilities in the workplace. And yet going back to the 1800s in England, women were working in deep mines, pushing carts containing 200kg of coal to the surface. In the second world war, they were doing most every job that men left behind while fighting wars. Mechanics, electricians, engineers. A slave woman is quoted as saying "Ain't no job i din't do. I was a slave" And yet many recent debates seem to focus on womens capabilities to do a job, when in historical terms, there are almost no jobs women did not do. The feminist movement from the 1900s to the 1970s was mainly focused on equal rights. So where does the idea that women in the workplace are any less capable than men spring from? Does the battle for equal roles get confused with the battle for equal rights? moreResolved Question: Does this make any sense to you? why would female supporters vote for a person who does not respect them?
Why would any female vote for John Mccain, when Mccain has voted against there right's many times. Mccain has treated them with nothing but disrespect. let me say this. if any female vote for John Mccain then they are voting against there own rights. here are some example's to how he treated them 1. True Men would love play out the question like in A FEW GOOD MEN? Women rights: *Did you say we can't have equal pay? Yahoo Answers: You *don’t* have to answer that question! Male establishment: I'll answer the question! Male establishment: You want answers? Women rights: I think I'm entitled. Male establishment: *You want answers?* Women rights: *I want the truth!* Male establishment: *You can’t handle the truth!* [pauses] Male establishment: Woman, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You Mothers? or You Lesbians? We have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You cheer for governor Palin, and you praise the Republicans. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Palins acceptence, while historic, probably ruined her family. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want men on that wall, you need men on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a woman who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that we provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up an apron, and work your post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to. 1st im not asking about Obama..so please refrain from even talking about him. Ill ask this same question about him next. McCain is a known adulterer. He once called his wife the "c" word. In 2003 he said the "Iraq war would be swift and easy" in 2007 he said "Now americans are beginning to learn what we knew here in washington.. that the mission in Iraq would be tough and drawn out" He doesnt know how many houses he owns. He's voted against bills that were for womens equal pay rights and voted against bills that would give working moms child care help. He was pro choice as late as 2004 now hes prolife? He was involved in the Keating 5 scandle. So im asking what is it about McCain that is so likeable? what is it about this man that makes you like him? moreResolved Question: Why dont politicians not care about or talk about men injustice just womens ?
Everytime I hear Obama or McCain talk its about genders they're making women victims, solving womens problem, say its not your fault, wage gap, and etc.Politicians even criticizes guys( which is whatever) but they never say nothing negative about women.Women dont NEED anymore help to make it anymore there are so many women only (most government paid for) organizations, women bias laws, equal opportunity but yet they act like they are held back or play the weak role. Women have more right than Men period...Do u see a problem with this? PS:There is a gap in wage between men and women because of alot of women life choice( to have children-take months off of work- not as comfortable re-negotiation salary( which is huge cause companies will try pay EVERYBODY low pay than they should get but men most likely try to renegotiate)- Most men tend work more hours.Saying everybody should get paid the same is a joke.Work hard and let co-worker doing the same job slack, think they should paid thesame....I say hell no . The mens final today at 4hours and 48 minutes compared to the womens final which lasted 1 hour 51 minutes. Now excuse me but if i did 3 hours more work would expect to recieve a little bit extra pay. Not to mention the fact that there is far greater competition in the mens game with far fewer 6-2, 6-2 straight set wins. Anyone who accuses me of being sexist is clearly unable to form a logical argument. The fact is the men play longer and have a far harder task in winning the tournament so why on earth is there equal pay. If it was the other way around i would ask the same question.Well it is the women demanding equal pay for lesser work...if they want equal pay they should have to play 5 sets. Women play a maximum of 3 sets in a game of tennis with an average of 2,the men play a minimum of 3 and an average of 4 during the tournament moreVoting Question: HISTORY question?

I don't think it should be. Men can play matches up to twice the length of a 3-set womens match. It is also more intense for that longer duration. If you take the perspective that sport is a form of entertainment, then men should be paid more. Let me know what you think.Mike M - I think we view Tennis as entertainment in two very different ways! moreResolved Question: Question about Persistent Minorities?
I have a friend who is doing an Open University course in the U.K. and a question she has come across is to define Persistent Minorities and to give an example of a persistent minority. She has told me that she has mentioned in her essay about the Disability act (equality with jobs etc...) and the womens rights act (equal pay, jobs etc...) I just wondered if anyone could give a further example or please confirm whether these acts she has mentioned will be correct to focus on. If not, I wondered if anyone had a further example that could be used. I have searched on here without much success. moreResolved Question: womens rights!?
okay well i have to pick the topic of womens rights and my class is doing a protest. my fact about it is in 1960 womens average earngings were less than 60 percent of mens and my slogan is equal pay for eqal work orr feminism is the problem, equalism is the solution. but i need a picture to go with it, what should i use for the picture. can you please help me as soon as you can!? give me web sites or ideas. thank youuu=) moreResolved Question: Can anyone find a website about womens rights??
im doing an assignment about womens rights and im looking for a good website thats explains how women fought for rights in the workforce, equal pay ect. between the conclusion of WWII and the 1980s. Help is really appreciated. as many answers as possible plz plz plz thank you moreResolved Question: Overlooked! If men have such an advantage, why do we have the highest suicide rates?
So Yahoo answers, lets get to the meat of some of these hard hitting issues. We hear a lot about women in our society, there is huge amounts money spent on womens health awareness. Tons of focus on equal pay for women. Many women still go to bars expecting to drink for free. Men die on average 4 years younger than women, their is considerably less money spent on men's health awareness, we have the highest suicide rate of any demographic, and no one seems to pay that much concern (accept for those of us men who have come to realize that we are being duped). So Yahoo answers, why are men killing themselves at rates FAR BEYOND female suicide rates? Don't feed me any crap like testosterone, this is a serious societal issue. Discuss and please visit http://www.rulymob.comThank you for your insightful response Sam, points.1st class woman and Laela thank you very much for your contributionsBismark I really like your response thank you for your contributionright Ola R, but these statistics are somewhat flawed because they do not discount many repeat attempts from the same people. Men have a MUCH higher mortality rate than women in suicide, I do know what you are talking about however we are talking about sheer death stats classified by sex. The most common suicide method for both sexes is a firearm (in the United States)Sam I would like to mention if you read the book provided at that link you would realize that there is a whole chapter that discusses male suicide rates. I am extraordinarily concerned with this issue, trying to imply that I am not is insulting.Millie, thank you for your insightful contribution. I am not angry at women for the record, and this post has nothing to do with previous posts. I am terribly sorry about your losses or seeing your friends struggle with depression and suicide. moreResolved Question: Feminism: Yay or Nay?
I'm 14 years old, and I find I am the only one of my friends who is absolutely opposed to feminism. I hate it! I feel like I am the only one who sees beyond it. Many of their main platforms are double-standards (you can do that to a man, but if he ever does it to you, OHHH NOO). It's gotten so bad, many of their main fights, are about things that have little to do with sexism at all, take abortion for example; it's not frickin' because men want to take control of womens bodies, it's because they are morally opposed to killing a human being! And the difference in salaries between men and women is NOT because of sexist government, it's because women are either housewives or take less physically demanding jobs, the do not usually take jobs that should be equal or higher payed than men. There are so many things I could say. I just don't understand the reasoning for feminism today, I'm not saying there wasn't ever any use for it, but NOW..? We're NOT opressed!!! What do you think? moreResolved Question: Can you believe this?
Watching a TV news item BBC UK the old question of equal pay for women arose. It seems that some time ago Birmingham Council were faced with a strike over the issue! They held a big council meeting and thought they could resolve the issue, equal pay for men and women doing the same job, to resolve it they dropped the mens pay down to the level of the womens!!!!!!!!! Didnt work very well at all, strike started next day along with a few riots!!! moreResolved Question: Why do we have seperate sport competitions for men and women in this age of equality?
I think the national womens' soccer (I know there are many Americans) team for England competed with the men's clubs, they would probably be in the bottom division. Like wise women's tennis players would never even reach the quarter finals of any tournament, so why do we have to pay them equal? moreResolved Question: Woman in need part 2!?
Okay, So i have chosen to write my paper about Womens rights for equal pay in the job in the job field. Can anybody give me any info about this to start me off? When did the role of women in the job field begin to change? What is the reason that men get paid more than women? Thank you!!! : ) moreResolved Question: im al 4 womens rights but it seems they want all da old fashion guy pays 4 everything. ever heard ofa guy?
going out with a fiver and coming ome with a fiver it seems they want equal rights only wen it suits moreResolved Question: So with the feminist logic about equal pay for tennis players, then?
Why dont we all get paid the same from the pool of profits from the companies we work at. Why dont we pay the womens soccer team the same as the males soccer team. Could it be that it is logics and fairness that if you dont pull in the money, you dont get paid more than you earn. Sexist affirmative action is what you are askingIts not like the women dont have the same opportunity as the men to bring in more revenue. They have every opportunity. Why dont we just pay every player the same amount of prize money.edit Esmerelda So what we should do is pay actors in movies the same amount of money regardless of whether they are a revenue puller or someone who barely makes a profit. Your point has no bairing on the logics of revenue and worth. moreResolved Question: Womens rights?
I may not be very old, but I have noticed that many feminists and womens righs ideals are somewhat hipocritical. For example, women demand equal pay, whcich is fine, but they would be shocked if they were asked to split the cost of a date. And after 100 years of the womens right movement, they still refuse to acknowledge that men and women are diffrent, not unequal, unless thats how you view it. And if that idea is brought to them, they immediatly play the sexist card. Am I crazy or is this really happeing? Honest answers please.SMS, I realize that they are a diffrent thing, but the idea is that women expect equal treatment where they may be treated unjustly and yet still expect special treatment just because they are women. moreResolved Question: AHH! I CAN'T SOLVE THIS! Help Me!!!?
OK...so 3 women go into a motel and they paid $30 for a room and they split this evennly into $10 each. A while later the manager realizes that the room was only $25 so he sends the bellboy to the 3 womens' room with the extra $5. The bellboy couldn't figure out how to split $5 evenly into between the 3 women, so he gave each one of them $1 and kept the other $2 for himself. This means that each woman paid $9 for the room, which totals up to $27. Add the $2 that the bellboy kept and it equals $29. What happened to the other dollar?????????????? moreResolved Question: we should all be equal? ok then boys should also suffer!?
I keep reading in womens health and girls keep saying about period pain and headaches and pms. what boys have? dont start with 'it hurts when kicked down there' this is just an excuse. are girls kicked that they get cramps? and dont say that boys do have headaches and pms. we dont have anything! dont lie. but if a boy is having problems, then they are just ill. now look at girls how much they suffer. my sister is begging our mum to pay for surgery to remove her ovaries, because she cant stand all those painful cramps each month. I feel sorry for her. so what boys have? we are too lucky. I dont have anything, no pain at all, not even headaches. not even me, my dad, other boys in school. no one. but if they do, then they are just ill. so I wanna incourage my program that every boy should get some pills and be forced to eat them, so it would cause cramps in their abdominal area! its not fair that girls are suffering while boys are perfectly okay!I'm even a bully. I keep beating other boys in school. and then I also hit myself with a stick. I feel good when boys are in pain! girls shouldnt suffer but boys should.if everyone keeps saying that everyone should be equal, so then make everything equal. pain to boys too! hooray!well let me ask you how many men gets kidney stones? not many. I have never ever met anyone that had that. moreResolved Question: I finally broke up with my girlfriend, she says she want's me to bang her friend just to make things "even"?
Okay I broke up with her because she has been sleeping with this guy she is "only physically attracted to" and claimed it wasn't cheating but now she is pregnant with his baby and I know it is his because I haven't slept with her for about a month; because she has been flirting around with other guys and acting mean to me. She wants me to sleep with our best friend until I feel that it is equal to the amount of pain I have suffered. She tells me she loves me to death and she still says she did not cheat because it is human nature to have sex with those you are attracted to. I have morals and I DON"T want to sleep with her friend even though she is smoking hot and I am "physically attracted to her". She said I am the reason this relationship did not work and I am the one that is causing the trouble. She has no job, I cook, clean, pay her bills and cars, and I brought this house. I do everything that would be deemed "A womens job plus my own". My heart is broken.......Does she still love me? I am a believer in equal rights for woman and that they are equal in every way, aside from the fact that each individual brings a set of talents to a relationship... That said, I want to ask womens opinion of what I think about money and living together. I believe that the shared bills like rent, utilities, cable etc. should be divided equally and individual bills should be paid by the one who chose to create the bill. (like car payments and insurance on that car, haircuts, eating out or doing things without partner) After all shared bills are divided equally, then anything left over is for that individual to use as they see fit. I have a problem with the women who think that the man should pay all the bills and the womans income is for whatever she wants... i say, if you are equal, you are equal... What are your thoughts? What kgray1216 said is funny, that is the way my ex-wife was... she would tell me I could have one soda a day and that if I would just work harder... I could go to college... while she make only 20% of the income so that she could have her dream job... I asked so that I was prepared when I do find a mature woman who is capable of an adult relationship. moreResolved Question: Gender related salary scale differences - revisited!?
We are all familiar with womens rights activists campaigning for equal salaries for respective jobs. Is it so bad that men get paid a bit more. My reasoning is thins... to be a 'gentleman', a man should pay for dinner, pay for drinks, pay for taxis, buy flowers and the ocaisional gift such as an item of clothing, buy jewellery, and the list goes on. Women are not ever expected to treat men with their money the way men are expected to treat women. If we all earned equally, men would become impoverished while women have to buy an outhouse to accomodate all their pairs of shoes. So, in my opinion, men need higher salaries than women. Agree? (I know if you're a lady you'll most likely disagree, but spare a though for us anyway) moreResolved Question: Whats with the equal prize money at wimbledon? i dont mean to be sexist but surely equal pay for equal work?
LIke womens matches only go for 3 sets, mens go for five, if i was a male competitor id be really angry. they play less tennis, so why do they deserve the same money as the men who play longer?Well tennis is a job right, for them. why should they be different from any other profession? u get payed for the amount of you time you work, and womens matches go shorter then mens, its a fact. moreResolved Question: Equal rights for women - Hypocritical?
I have a friend who loves the idea of womens equal rights - yet she finds it an insult to even think that she might have to pay her own way when she goes out with a man. The same girl also expects her man to help her out with the housework. I'm sorry, but I am all for equal rights when it means the same pay at work, etc etc so why should I be shy at putting my hand in my pocket at the bar? Why do some women want equal rights on some level and not on others? moreResolved Question: in what was did the civil rights movement help the womens movement in the 1960s?
1) it payed the way for ratification of the equal rights amendment 2) it inspired women and provided them with a model 3) it encouraged women to maintain their traditional roles in society 4) it gave the women movement ms. magazine moreResolved Question: Have some Femenist lost track of their objective?
Originally, the Womans Liberation Movement focused primarily on equality in society, employment and at home. Equal work for equal pay, right to vote, right to work, and property ownership. The thing is that most of what was originally set out to fight for has been accomplished, some have to be refined and worked at but they have been accomplished. Does it feel that some Femenist have taken on a new direction now and have or are trying to make the world an equal place for the genders even if they don't comply? What I mean is this, most likely if heavy boxes need to be moved, one would look at a man first and ask a man first before a woman. The reason is because naturally most men are stronger and can carry heavy things, but some Femenist feel that if a woman is not asked, then she is being discriminated against. That is where I believe some Femenist have lost track of what the Womens Liberation Movement was set out to achieve. Your thoughts? moreResolved Question: would men trust femmenist more if the femmensit self policed?
would men trust femmenist more if the femmensit self policed themselves ? That is to say there are good aspects to femmenism equal pay or the struggle to achieve , voting rights jobs etc .Thats the good stuff. I think a lot of men would respect the various aspects of femmneism and womens movement if the women in these womens told misandrist women who hate men to shut up. questions comments suggestionsI actualy see men self police other men .that is if a man is a mysogynist and does something to hurt women normal men will exert social pressures against the offending male and come to the aide of the women in question However if a women does something to a guy based on misandry men do not have the same luxury of a women stopping and saying to the misandrist women to stop her actions .Its time for women to exert social pressure on malicious misandrist. Until we see you activley taking care of the worst parts of femmist element we will regard femmensim with skeptisicism and caution. We need caring femmmist to stand up agaisnt the misandrist .We want you to social pressures on those that say all men are evil and that would hurt men for no valid reason . moreResolved Question: What's with all these half-@ssed activists?
I think that all ppl should be paid the same for their job regardless of gender. I know that all people are NOT created equal and I believe we should learn to get over it, and embrace that fact so we can be stronger as communities. I think that if you are treated as a lesser individual simply for being a female, you have been dealt a grave injustice. My problem is women in the workplace who come thru and like to pretend they want equality, when they just want equal pay. The types that force employers to set up sensitivity training b/c they want to be treated like dainty little stereotypical women-folk and pretend they are activists for womens rights. They want to reap the benefits of being viewed as an equal, not to be treated like one. Why don't other feminists shut these ppl down? They contribute to the imagery that makes men view women as a lesser being. The inconsistency is so obvious it's comical. I believe that being born should make you a feminist in our society but I can'tstand posers who ruin the good name of a good cause. Nobody on earth is made equal to his or her peers, except in the fact that we're all human, but that alone should be enough. Since it isn't activists are needed to enforce the idea of equality. Why would anyone want to be associated with someone who made a laughingstock of their cause and still liked to pretend they were vouching for it, and fighting for idealism that accompanied it?It would seem as though Tobias thrives off of the controversy of twisting others words and then sitting back and watching the sparks fly. It is a recurrent trend in his answers though I have yet to check out his questions, I suspect it is the same there as well. It is obvious you are intelligent, y waste it? Or perhaps he has a personal qualm with what he views as male chauvinism. At any rate my question was meant to say simply that women should be treated as equals AND paid as equals, but those whose only concern is getting paid equally should not have to hide behind the 'equality' smokescreen. If you had actually read the question, instead of seeing that a male had posted a question in the 'womens studies' forum and decided you needed to scold him, you probably would've noticed that. Prejudice is an ugly thing Mr. F, and pre-set biases are just lesser form of prejudice. moreResolved Question: "Womens Lib," thats the excuse?
Womens lib is the reason why most men have no manners? That is the reason? PLEASE!!!! I liked what Donna said. I believe now these days that, children are dragged up....rather than raised up. But I also believe for most, its no fault of their own. Its a tough world to grow up in. p.s. The politically correct term for Womens Lib, is something more like equal pay, recognition, jobs etc. moreTop Womens Right Equal Pay For Equal Work Links
