Open Question: No equal pay for equal work?
Some people say that women don't paid the same money as men for equal labor/work. This is a pretty stupid comment considering that if this was true, wouldn't all businesses only hire women? It would be cheaper. Post your thoughts! moreOpen Question: Help me with linear programming for Algebra 2?

If I helped dispossed people move from where they are non-persons and move them to where they would immediately be identified as equal to all others, what immediate, and long term beneficial consequences could be procured? This is not a school project as i am preparing to do exactly this with perhaps 1,000,000 people. moreOpen Question: It is this hard for you too?
I find it hard to be equal between my son and step-daughter. Not because I don't love her as much or anything like that. It's just that I hate to spend money on stuff she is barely going to use. We have her 6 days a month. so every other weekend. We keep clothing here for her and don't send it home with her. We used to but it caused to many problems. Same goes for toys we keep them here. So she doesn't have as many clothes as my son does and she doesn't have as many toys either. Do you think this is mean? I don't do it on purpose. I just want the stuff we do buy her to get used and not just sit there collecting dust. I should mention that she is under 2 yo. and our son is under a year. When she is older her Dad said she can take things home with her since then if she doesn't bring them back it will be her fault she has nothing to play with and not her mothers. moreOpen Question: inverse functions, properties, question?
I dont understand... 5 ^ -1 = 1/5 = .2 x ^ -1 = 1/x how come tan^-1(x) doesnt equal 1 / tan(x) ??? what does it equal? Thanks! moreOpen Question: Good vs Evil: Wheres the "good" help at?
This goes to whoever believes in Jesus Christ, and God. I cant remember where I got this from but, young children can sometimes get possessed by demons, and the lord is supposed to help us right? Cant he protect the young children who are just about free of sin? Hes powerful, but the demons get through. I remember when I was young my mother/father made us say a prayer every night before we went to bed, at one part to bring angels around our house to protect us. Can angels protect us? Are there angels protecting the innocent children? If a totally church going man, who has strong morals, goes to church and always does the right thing. Shouldn't he be in total protection by the lord and his angels? Or does everyone get equal protection no matter how good, or "evil" some one is. Why don't people ever see angels instead of just demons? If some ghosts/spirits are lost in the world why doesn't our lord save them? Its hard to see the good in things when your just asked to believe in the good [God] though I never see the good, and the bad is always mentioned to be seen. I would like to hear stories more often of how someone seen a angel, instead of scared by a ghost/demon. In biblical times there were a few people who actually had help from god. Such as Moses who did astonishing things such as split ocean water to help escape his people. Where is "ours" at, at least biblical times had people you can do things such as that, its a lot easier to believe in god when you have that happening, instead of just now when all you get is to just believe. I would love to see modern miracles. A lot of people died in Iraq and such, and even in the past with BIG wars, and such. I didn't recall any miracle. If only there was a actual person, someone like Moses, this world wouldn't be in the bad state its in. Also its kind of odd how now the age people usually die at is around 50-70 when way back they could live way past 100!! Dang what was the name of that one biblical guy who lived past 200 or something like that. Just another thing, whats the deal with this nortramist guy? The one who predicted all that stuff... This isn't a bash, and I'm a Christian, just asking a few questions. moreOpen Question: How do you solve this: Hearing of a Bat?
Bats are mainly active at night. They have several senses that they use to find their way about, locate prey, avoid obstacles, and "see" in the dark. Besides the usual sense of vision, bats are able to emit high-frequency sound waves and hear the echo that bounces back when these sound waves hit an object. This sonar-like system is called echolocation. Typical frequencies emitted by bats are between 20 and 200 kHz. Note that the human ear is sensitive only to frequencies as high as 20 kHz. A moth of length 1.0cm is flying about 1.0 m from a bat when the bat emits a sound wave at 80.0 kHz. The temperature of air is about 10.0 C. To sense the presence of the moth using echolocation, the bat must emit a sound with a wavelength equal to or less than the length of the insect. The speed of sound that propagates in an ideal gas is given by v=[(air*R*T)/M]^1/2 where \gamma is the ratio of heat capacities (1.4 for air), T is the absolute temperature in kelvins (which is equal to the Celsius temperature plus 273.15C), M is the molar mass of the gas (for air, M=28.8*10^-3kg/mol}), and R is the universal gas constant (R=8.314 J/mol*K). Part A Find the wavelength \lambda of the 80.0 kHz wave emitted by the bat. Express your answer in millimeters. I got v =3.84m/s (3840mm/s), then I plugged it into v/f= wavelength. 3840/80000000mmHz = 4.8e-5mm. But it's wrong. Part B How long after the bat emits the wave will it hear the echo from the moth? Express your answer in milliseconds in 2 sigfigs moreOpen Question: Do you think that the NAACP is really necessary these days?

From balance sheet (given) 2007 accounts receivable is $118,698 (given) 2006 accounts receivables is $100,457 There is an increase in balance of account receivables of $18241 However, inside consolidated cash flow statement, there is an cash outflow of $19,106, instead of $18,241. About this program: - Implementation of the Dining Philosophers problem, - Fig 6.12, Operating Systems, Stallings - Example implementation using Posix threads and semaphores - Each philosopher is assigned a philosopher identification number (pid) - pids range from 0 to N-1 (where N is the number of philosophers) - likewise forst range from 0 to M-1 where M is the number of forks, and in the classic dining philosophers problems M is always equal to N - Each philosopher is implemented as a separate posix thread - Each fork is associated with a Posix semaphore, and accessing a fork by a philosopher requires the philosopher to sem_wait() until the fork is available, and to sem_post() (e.g. signal) when they are done eating and have put the fork back on the table. - Messages are displayed on standard output by the philosopher threads when the perform events such as picking up and putting down a fork, and when eating and thinking. - This initial implementation has 2 philosophers and 2 forks. */ #include "philo.h" // global arrays, hold the fork semaphores (using Posix sem_t semaphores) // and the philosopher thread data structures (Posix pthread_t thread structures) sem_t forks[NUM_FORKS]; pthread_t philosopherThread[NUM_PHILOSOPHERS]; /* Cause philosopher pid to think. Society as a whole has made the choice to make pedophilia, murder and rape illegal. But why stop there...? Violence is an act of sin. So why do Christians tolerate the sport of Boxing? "But it's between two consenting adults..." That the same line those 'sinful' homosexuals use. Children are out their telling fibs. Little old ladies are going to casino's. Young people are having sex BEFORE marriage. Outrageous!!! Shouldn't you be working to make all these acts illegal, not just gay marriage? If all sins are equal, and all can be forgiven when one has faith in Jesus, shouldn't every sinful act have the same amount of prison time? Why is it that Christians always seem far more tolerant toward acts of hate and violence than for acts of love? "In God's eyes, all sins are equal" is what alot of Christians have told me both in this forum and out in the real world. And I still fail to see why two men loving each other in that 'special' way is any worse than premarital sex, gambling, lying or getting into a fight. Hey there Fireball!!! Finally the voice of reason has arrived... Please 'Faith in God' can you give me the definition of a Real Christian'. Is it you...? moreOpen Question: 2 banana bread questions?

If the stomach has a pH level bewtween 1(the concentration of 0.160 m) and 2(the concentration of 0.155 m) So that means your stomach is very high in acid because in the acid scale its the opposite meaning 0 and 1 are really high in acid while 4 5 are low in acid right? Thank you soooo much if you answer this CORRECTLY(: moreOpen Question: Can we please stop blaming religious people?
I mean, it is true that staunchly conservative Christians are the main force against equal rights for gay people in this country. However, there are a lot of moderate and liberal Christians out there that are willing to listen to us. Some Christians have stood up for me more than anyone else. Can we please stop criticizing the Bible, megachurches, etc. It isn't going to help win people over to our side. The criticism may be true, but if we turn gay equality into gays vs. Christians we will lose. There aren't enough of us. moreOpen Question: Challenge: solve for x?
Let F(x) be the floor function (i.e., F(x) returns the largest integer less than or equal to x). Then the objective is to solve for x in the following general equation, where x, n, a, b, c, and d, are all integers, and n, a, b, c, and d are known constants: n = ax + bF(x/2) + cF(x/4) + dF(x/8) moreOpen Question: Medical expenses for end-of-life care?
I'm having trouble finding this statistic and my Google skills are letting me down. I remember learning at one point that during the last few weeks of a typical person's life, they spend money on medical care that's equal to 50% (or some other very high number) of their total lifetime medical costs. Has anyone else heard some information similar to this, and if so, do you know any source I might go looking for it? It would make a great point for a presentation I'm working on, but I obviously can't pull numbers out of my butt without a good source. :) I keep finding data on things like how much money Medicare spends each year on end-of-life care, but never statistics for individual people. moreOpen Question: matlab question about solving for x?
Problem 6.1 Prepare a script file named xxx6_1.m to solve the following problem. A metal container (without a lid) may be constructed by taking a flat, rectangular piece of metal and cutting four equal-size squares out of each corner (diagram below). The sides may then be folded up and welded along their edges to create the tray. If the dimensions of the piece of metal are 6 meters by 12 meters and each corner square that is cut out has a side length of x meters, find the value of x that yields a maximum volume for the tray. To do so, create a vector of values for x ranging from 0 to its largest value possible at intervals of 0.01 m, and then use Matlab’s max function to determine the maximum value (i.e., don’t use any calculus techniques). Display the value of the maximum volume and the corresponding values of the tray length, width, and height to 2 decimal places. I am trying to solve a controller output for a problem in reference to a P only control loop. The question is: Given the following data for a control loop: 1. There is +10 degrees Celsius worth of error. 2.PB = 50%. 3.Measured Variable is 250 degrees Celsius. 4.Control is set up for Heat Only – Reverse Acting – No Cutback – P only control action – Not manual reset action. 1What is the value in volts of the output? (0-10vDC output range ). 2What is the Setpoint? I am using this equation: Co = Kc (SP –MV) Where:Co is Controller Output Kc is Controller Gain SP = Setpoint. MV = Measured Value. Now with a PB of 50% we change it to a gain by using the equation PB=(100%/Gain) Gain then comes out to 2 since 100 / 2 = 50. If we have an error or +10 then our setpoint has to be 260 degrees. And out controller output would be 20 since a gain of 2 times error of +10 equals 20. Now if the controller output is 20, how is this a 0 to 10 volt range? I have a very hard time talking... Not as in trouble articulating my words, but actually talking to people. I have very clear speech, but engaging in conversation that is not awkward is nearly impossible for me. A projectile of mass M initially traveling with speed v explodes in flight into three fragments. An energy E equal to 5 times the initial kinetic energy of the projectile is released in the explosion, and is transformed into additional kinetic energy of the two of the projectiles. One fragment of mass m1 = M/2 travels with speed v1 = k1*v in the original direction of the projectile, while the second fragment of mass m2 = M/6 travels in the opposite direction with speed v2 = -k2*v and the third fragment of mass m3 = M/3 is at rest the instant after the explosion. a) Write down equations expressing the conservation of momentum and energy in terms of M, k1, k2, v, and E, immediately after the explosion. b) Find the values of k1 and k2. moreOpen Question: your opinion on car displacement. whats better?

I was reading and i found that these quotes were important. I would appreciate it if you could put them in understandable words. "They were given the new job, as custodians of our peace of mind, the focus of our understandable and rightful dread of being inferior: official censors, judges, and executors. That's you, Montag and that's me." (Page 58-59) "The bigger your market, Montag, the less you handle controversy, remember that." (Page 57) "Not everyone born free and equal, as the Constitution says, but everyone made equal" (Page 58) "A book is a loaded un in the house next door. Burn it. Take the shot from the weapon. Breach man's mind." (Page 58) This quote i just don't understand what he's referring to or talking about "And if there is something her, just one little thing out of a whole mess of things, maybe we can pass it on to someone else." (Page 67) "It is computed that eleven thousand persons have at several times suffered death rather then submit to break there eggs at the smaller end." (Page 68) Also, do all the passages Montag reads have significance, or are they just there to advance time and plot? (i.e. Page 71, bottom) moreOpen Question: Physics question.........?

In Loving v Virginia (1967) and Zablocki v Redhail (1978) the Supreme Court reasoned that marriage was "a fundamental right"... Should Majority Rule be allowed to gut the Constitution? Should we pick and choose what religions get 1st amendment protections? moreOpen Question: Who is the worst president ever?
Bush Cons: Unpopular War in Iraq Enonomic Crisis Republican Party rocked by a shitload of scandals Failed to capture Bin Laden Slow response to Katrina Bushisms(can also be pro) pros: umm. Increased AIDS relief to Africa also, he's not an "evil" president, like Nixon still, he's not the worst. If it weren't for 911, probably wouldn't have been Iraq, and his approval rating would be in the high 30's, low 40's instead of low 20's. Still in my worst 3 though Buchanan: Indifference to abolitionists Indecisive and Confused Did Nothing to avert Civil War Ugly Economy also suffered Bloody Kansas pros: none He is a serious contender, not only indecisive, but had no redeeming qualities Nixon Cons: Watergate(duh) Ugly Grumpy, unlikable, secretly racist, suspicious Hateful Pros Ended draft, Vietnam(ironic) Desegragation Improved relations with China I think he gets more critics that he deserves, seriously. Yes, there was watergate, but most other things he did in office weren't that bad Harding Cons: Knew no politics Let corruption rape America Teapot Dome Scandal Instead of acting, did nothing Pros: Economy improved, though that had nothing to do with him I hate him,and i think he just might be it. if he were president right now, we would all be in a shithole, literally. others: Fillmore, Quincy Adams debatable:Carter, LBJ Why do people hate Bill? OMG, someone blew him, wow! He is now the democratic equal of Bush because...someone..fucked...him? moreTop The Equals Links
