Last year, the New York Times published the results of its census analysis stating that 51% of U.S. women live without a spouse. However, Sperling's BestPlaces discovered this might not be the whole story. "The Times came to some insightful conclusions with their analysis," said Bert Sperling, lead researcher for Sperling's BestPlaces. "We made some different assumptions to more closely reflect our national lifestyle where fifteen year-old girls aren't commonly expected to get married." The New York Times used, at that time, the latest demographics from the Census Bureau, including women above age fourteen who were unmarried or separated. Indeed, according to a University of Texas survey, the average age of women at their first marriage is 26. Sperling's firm looked at similar Census data, but restricted its analysis to single, widowed, and divorced women age 25-64. Without this cap on the age range, places with higher concentrations of elderly people would show a misleading number of single women. Sperling's conclusion is significantly different than the New York Times. In the 379 metro areas nationwide, 34% of women 25-64 are single. Despite all the attention to this new milestone for single women, the difference between the number of single men and women is not as great as one might think. Nationally, 32% of men are single. Where do the lonely hearts live? "As interesting as the nation as a whole is trending," Sperling said, "we want to see which places had the greatest percentage of single men and women." Sperling's firm broke down the data by metro area, revealing interesting patterns on where singles live. San Francisco seems to attract single people like a good pickup line, if there is such a thing. Compared to every other metro area in the U.S., the San Francisco region, which includes areas south like San Mateo and Redwood City, has the highest percentage of single people. Detroit, with 43% singles, is second only to San Francisco. New York, and Boston round out the top four. Most southern cities are not flush with single people. Those cities in southern states that have more singles are homes to colleges, where students might choose to remain after graduation, or are known for their nightlife. New Orleans, Austin, and a handful of Florida cities all have more singles than the national average. "There has to be a lot going on for singles," said David Evans in a phone interview with BestPlaces. Evans is an online dating researcher based in Boston, a city that is 39% single. self. We work with 8th graders and we are both tutors, plus there's another tutor and a spec teacher in our group. We all share a study hall together, where we help kids write papers, do math, etc. All the adults share equal responsibility for all of the students. Here are 2 examples from this week: All four of us adults were in the study hall and this tutor, let's call her Miss P., directed all the students to come to her and her alone so she could look over their essays that were due that week. She wrote her name on the board and underneath it wrote "see Miss P. to check your papers". As she was helping a student at her desk, I began helping anopther student with her essay. As I was working with the girl, Miss P. asked her to come to her desk so she could check her essay. I told her the student was all set b/c I was handling it. She then asked the student if she would like her to check the paper again, even though I had already helped her with it. Later in the week I was sitting at the back table with a student helping her organize her binder. Miss P. asked us to move b/c she was going to use the table to help kids study for an exam (there is another large table in the room she could've used). I told her we would only be a few minutes and then she asked the student I was working with if she would please move so that we wouldn't get in the way of her study session. I then moved myself and the girl and she took over the table. I didn't want to argue with her in front of the kids. Do you think Miss P. is a total B*t*ch, or is she just a little controlling. What do you think? The SPED teacher that is in the group with us is "in charge" of the classroom. She never puts Miss P. in her place b/c they get a long. they both have similar personalities. I talked to the Principal breifly about Miss P. and she told me to talk about it face to face with Miss p. b/c noone lieks to be talked abotu behing their backs. i feel like talking to Miss P. will make no difference and it will make the day inthe classroom even more uncomfortable. Open Question: I have a four month old and I started to put rice cereal in his bottle to fill him up...I know?

some people say not to do that...So i hope i'm not a bad mom for doing that..but my question is usually when i make a bottle i put some rice cereal in the bottom of the bottle and three scoops of formula (which equals 6 oz.) Once i shake the bottle up the bottle ends up being 7 onces with the cereal. So When the doctor asks how much formula is he drinking...do i say 6 oz because that's how much formula i stick in the bottle or do i say 7 ounces because thats how much the bottle ends up being once i mix it all together. Does anyone else stick rice cereal in the bottle? He is also starting solilds too.. It also seems that when i give him a plain bottle without formula he doesn't want it now...Did I spoil him by giving him rice in the bottle?? any advice is welcome..Thanks for reading. There is only one flashlight and only two can cross at one time. Tom can cross the bridge in one minute, Tim in 2 minutes, Bob in 5 minutes, and Jerry in 10 minutes. When two men walk together, they must walk at the slower pace. Clearly explain how these four men crossed the bridge in 17 minutes. One has to be totally dumb or inane to believe only 12 to 15 million illegals are in this country. Illegals started coming in groves in the late 70's. For decades, they were uncontested. Illegal awareness took hold in the last ten years. Under the Clinton Administration, he allowed millions to become citizens without completing the proper paperwork. Each year, we are told that over four million come into the country. We are further told that 3.5 enter between California and Arizona. Do the math! Do you really think 35 years of heavy immigration equals to 12 million illegals? It is a cover up, for societies are often deceived by their governments. We pride ourselves on being an Intelligent nation, but we are just as gullible. The math does not add up! Fifteen million have entered in the last five years. Keep in mind, our own government gives us the yearly statistic. If so, why do they assume that we should buy into the lie? This new lie about illegal immigration being on the down low due to our wavering economy, is also a lie!!! NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT WHAT PART OF TAKING CARE OF 50 MILLION ILLEGALS HAVE PROPELLED US INTO A RECESSION. I might sound far off, but welfare, SSDI, SSI, and the cost of Food Stamps have depleted us. Our govenment does not want to talk about this, for it is not politically correct for McCain and Obama. Also, it will offend the hispanic groups. Think about it, if the USA was not paying trillions of dollars to illegals would we be as bad off as we are? Sun Meditation To practice sun meditation, beginners should start by looking at the rising sun early in the morning. You can also look at the setting sun, but it is not as effective as at sunrise because the energy is decreasing. If you feel any trouble gazing directly at the sun, you should focus your gaze a short distance above the sun. Try not to blink, but if you feel discomfort, blink several times, then start again. If you do this three of four times, your resistance power will be increased and it will be easy to look at the sun. Then, we can gradually increase the time that we gaze at the sun. Beginners should start looking each day for a short period, then day by day increase the amount of time so that the eyes can gradually adapt without any harm. It is very important to maintain regular practice, as it will allow your eyes to adapt properly. Some people may experience problems in the first few days, sometimes headaches or burning sensations in the eyes, or a 'sunspot' that affects your vision. This is quite normal, and the only way to overcome these problems is to continue practising. It is similar to any physical exertion that may cause stiffness or pain; it does not last long, and it is best removed by continuing the exercise. When you can continue staring at the sun for ten minutes, the sun will seem to disappear. The inside of the sun will appear as blue sky surrounded by a ring of light, it will sometimes appear as two suns, sometimes rotating clockwise or anticlockwise. As your concentration develops and you can gaze at the sun for longer, you will be able to see a 'black spot' in the middle of the sun. Sometimes this black spot will be bigger, at other times smaller. After practice, the black spot will remained fixed in one place. Suddenly, from this black hole, seven colours will emerge and move around the sun, sometimes clockwise, sometimes anti-clockwise. As your concentration increases, a powerful beam of light will come from the sun towards your body. In the beginning this beam of light will not touch the body, it will come towards you and then retreat back to the sun. Eventually, as your concentration improves, this light will touch your body and you will attain complete thoughtless condition. This is the start of the pratyaharam stage, and indicates the beginning of Sunyoga experience. After being touched by this light, a vibration will start from the heart, allowing us to control three negativities; shame, hatred and fear. With regular practice this vibration will increase and you will be able to gain control over four more negativities; anger, greed, narrow attraction, ego & jealousy. As the vibration increases you will be able to control sexual desire and lust. At this point, the pratyaharam stage is complete. The next step, as the inner vibration increases and extends from the muladhara chakra at the base of the spine to the sahasradhara chakra at the top of the head, the sadhak will experience sahaja samadhi during which he will be able to see a bright light, inside of which there will be a beautiful structure. The judiciary does not need to review each buy-and-sell decision by the Treasury Department, but there should be some boundaries established to the Treasury Department's discretion, and judicial review is needed to ensure that unbridled discretion is not abused. 3. Sunlight is a good disinfectant. The bailout that is ultimately approved must provide for full and timely disclosure of all bailout details. This will discourage conflicts of interest and limit the potential of sweetheart deals. 4. Firms that accept government bailout monies must agree to disclose their transactions and be more honest in their accounting. They should agree to end off-the-books accounting maneuvers, for example. 5. Taxpayers must be protected by having a stake in any recovery. The bailout plan should provide opportunities for taxpayers to recoup funds that are made available to problem financial institutions or to benefit from the financial institutions' rising stock price and increased profitability after being bailed out. 6. Cap executive compensation and stop giving the Wall Street gamblers golden parachutes. The CEOs who have created the financial disaster should not be allowed to leave with millions in hand when so many pensioners and small shareholders are seeing their investments evaporate. The taxpayers are bailing out Wall Street so that the financial system continues to function, not to further enrich the CEOs and executives who created this mess. 9. Congress should pass the Financial Consumers' Information and Representation Act, to permit citizens to form a federally-chartered nonprofit membership organization to strengthen consumer representation in government proceedings that concern the financial services industry. As the savings and loan disasters of the 1980s and the Wall Street debacles of the last few years have demonstrated, there is an overriding need for consumers and taxpayers to have the organized means to enhance their influence on financial issues. 10. The repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act, separating traditional banks from investment banks, helped pave the way for the current disaster. It is time to re-regulate the financial sector. The current crisis is also leading to even further conglomeration and concentration in the financial sector. We must revive and apply antitrust principles, so that banking consumers can benefit from competition and taxpayers are less vulnerable to too-big-to-fail institutions, merging with each other to further concentration. 11. Congress should impose a securities and derivatives speculation tax. A tax on financial trading would slow down the churning of stocks and financial instruments, and could raise substantial monies to pay for the bailout. 12. Regulators should impose greater margin requirements, making speculators use more of their own money and diminishing reckless casino capitalism. The proposal was made by Ralph Nader, who like Green Party Candidate Cynthia McKinney and Libertarian Candidate Bob Barr are not allowed to debate by the Corporate-funded GOP/Democrat managed Commission on Presidential Debates. But when i come across the word i still just can't seem to get it, well i understand but then i still make mere mistakes, here we go. Together Marissa and Shannon weigh 100kg. Four Times Marrissa's weight decreased by double Shanon's Weight equals 109kg. Determine the weight of each. Simple Let: x=Marissa y=Shannon so together they weigh 100kg x+y=100 now the second part i thought i was on the right track until i check it and i am incorrect , what i got was x=51.5 & y=51 Its wrong for the second equation i wrote 4x-2y=109 it seemed right to me!
