Open Question: CAs1,50,000 & ICWAs 30,000, CA pass % far morethan ICWA. CA syllabus lessthan ICWA ,Y CA has more recognition?

Persons doing both CA,CWA simultaniously are facing difficulty in passing ICWA than CA. Persons who registered for both CA and ICWA simultaniously are compleating CA earlierthan ICWA. ICWA is more difficult than CA. Pass % ICFAI - 45% CA- 10-15% ICWA -2- 3% Number of CAs1,50,000 & ICWAs 30,000. CA syllabus lessthan ICWA , But CA has more prospectus and opportunities All international bodies recognised ICWA and as qualification equal to their international standard course and allowed ICWAs to practice in their countries. And those international bodies gave mutual recognition between their course and ICWA. But, CA is not given such recognition by international institutions , and ICAI is strugling to get such recognition. ICWA syllabus is more.ICWA . Cost accountants are also called Management Accountants all over the world in UK , US, Canada and even in Pakistan and Bangladesh also. Why that recognition is nt given by Indian Govt? Even for name change also govt is not readyWHY CA HAS MORE RECOGNITION THAN ICWA INSPITE OF 1.EASYNESS 2.LESS SYLLABUS 3.LESS FOCUS ON MANAGEMENT AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT PRACTICES COMPARED TO ICWA 4.WITH LESS DYNAMISM IN SYLLABUS CHANGE/ UPGRADATION COMPARED TO ICWA 5.EASIER WAY OF BECOMING ASSOCIATE MEMBER COMPARED TO ICWA ** We are experiencing the frauds of audit by CA ( recently Satyam). CAs don't know really about management practices of Finance ( because only ICWAs are management accountants , ICWAs are fully aware of Accounts and Management) , then how CAs are eligibile for audit? All statutory powers for CAs should be removed. *** more

Resolved Question: Wrote this in 1997 - Can you see how bitter I felt?

(I must have been a doggerel-writing feminist back then) You know the glass-ceiling against which we bang our heads? I’ve encountered one of concrete, reinforced with strips of lead. You see, not only am I handicapped by my 'inferior' sex, But I am also lumbered by my years. Only the grave is next. So here I am both willy-less and with greying hair Staring at this barrier so clearly built up there. I can’t afford a sex-change, and the years I can’t roll back I cannot, after all this time, replace the things I lack. I’m left with two stark choices of what I can do now I can gracefully accept my fate or become a moaning cow. If I opt for the former, then I’ll never move on up But if I choose the latter I still get the loser's cup. Either way I’m stymied, Catch 22 Supreme Sinking to the bottom - no hope of sweet rich cream. For my next incarnation I’m grabbing hold of my Creator I shall insist he listens - and demand a procreator. Not the one I’m stuck with, but the one that stands up proud And an equal opportunity to rise above the crowd. Unfortunately, there will have to be sacrifices in some places To reach my promised land I’ll need to step on female faces. (What's it like now in the office world?) more

Open Question: Isn't the snide text-book response to this question emblematic of the distorted society we live in today?

http://blogs.bnet.com/stanley-bing/?p=268 =========== 'Dear Stanley, I recently interviewed with a company where the team was led by a woman and included five female co-workers. I am a man and my concern is that I would not fit in. Further, I have heard recent statistics that a high percentage of the population would rather work for a man. I work for a company now where it’s the good ‘ol boys: I can golf, go out for drinks, swear, etc. in a corporate setting. Am I setting myself up for failure by taking a job in a female-dominant setting? The reason for the change is 100 percent salary based. Worried Walter Dear Walt, Hi there! Guess what? You’re a sexist! Congratulations on the fact that your disability has so far gone undiagnosed due to the environment in which you are working. It was only a matter of time before you were busted, and I’m happy to do the job. Your attitudes are very poor, my man. I’m not saying I don’t sympathize. It’s fun, if you’re a man, to work inside the cozy womb — if that’s the right word — of a gender-dominant group within a culture. But it’s like any other society where injustice is the law of the land: cozy for the guys in power, cold for those on the outside looking in. Just for fun, here are some of the indications that you’re suffering from chronic Sexist Butthead Syndrome, as demonstrated in your brief e-mail: 1. You went out of your way to find out the gender composition of the department you’d be working for; 2. You believe you would “not fit in,” which demonstrates your probably well-founded feeling that you don’t relate well to women in a professional environment; 3. You cite some troglodyte survey saying that a “high percentage of the population” would rather work for a man. Any man? As opposed to any woman? Nice job of generalizing, dude! 4. You use the phrase “good ol’ boys” without irony; 5. You are concerned that a better salary would not offset the loss of golf; 6. Your conviction that “females” do not drink or swear. My experience is that they do both quite nicely. At any rate, I believe there’s hope for you. You’re asking questions; that’s a good thing. You’re considering making a change in spite of your horrendous attitudinal liabilities. And the truth is, most men, particularly those of a certain age, have had to make the same shift and have done so splendidly. You’d be amazed how sexist attitudes eventually melt away when you are compensated well to have them do so. I think you should take the job. You’d be surprised at how the number of your fellow trolls has decreased in recent years. You need to get with the new program, pronto. What you’ll find out is that women make just as good — and just as bad — managers and colleagues as men do. Sometimes better. Sometimes worse. They do tend to cry a little bit more, but that’s another story altogether.' ================= First off I don't consider myself sexist - I support feminism in it's basic form - equal opportunities for women, and oppose female discrimination. However things like this get on my nerves quite a bit, I don't consider it feminist - merely a form of PC thought policing. Note the way the response is issued, it's based on an assumption from the given evidence that the questioner is sexist - almost in a computational manner the answerer issues a text-book PC "anti-misogynist" response. The hallmarks of this are passive aggressive undertones, masked by patronising the questioner, the use of nauseating Newspeak jargon i.e. "gender composition", "professional environment", "Sexist Butthead Syndrome", "gender-dominant group" - cosy terms designed to appear scientific, but the majority derive from sociological pseudoscience. So ultimately you have a man who prefers to work with men, probably set in old ways a bit, but fair do - is branded "sexist" for having a preference when it comes to gender. Many people like to choose whether or not their doctor (or GP) is a man or a woman - does this mean their sexist too? Should they be sent to the state correctional facilities for not thinking the way they should? Shouldn't workplaces promote diversity? Not just in terms of race, sex or sexuality - but progressive, libertarian, statist and conservative views? Isn't that being discriminatory - forcing them to change their ways like hive workers, conditioning their behaviours, and correcting them, like they're political dissidents? I'm all for gender equality, and equal opportunities - but that doesn't mean that statistically on the whole, there are differences between the sexes. Male and female bosses do often work in different ways, according large professional studies, not my own insignificant experience. Does that mean I'm a troglodyte, are those studies "troglodytes" - Are the participants in the studies olms? Are they also sexist as well as blind? I mean what the questioner is saying, is hardly that offencive, old fashioned yeah, but hardly enough to call hThere's a difference between being worried about fitting in in a female dominated work group and not wanting to work with women. If a woman is more productive working with other women, and prefers it, then let her do so - vice versa for men, and people who prefer to work with both sexes. Nothing sexist, just preference. more

Open Question: Republicans, if I was running for public office would you consider voting for me?

I am a democrat, but a moderate, not a liberal. Below are issues where i either partially or fully agree with the republicans. Gun Control: While I believe that guns should be kept out of the hands of dangerous criminals, I support the second amendment. Defend your home, go out and hunt, just be safe. I believe it is unnecessarily to tax guns and ammunition on top of the already existing state sales tax. Abortion: More pro life than pro choice. I do not believe that it should be outlawed fully, but believe that after the first few weeks, it should be outlawed due to the fact that the fetus is now conscious and feels the pain of the abortion. At this stage, it should be done only to save the life of the mother. Also, abortion should not be a free service, it should be a service you pay for, unless it is a case of rape, incest, or if the mother would die in child birth. This eliminates abortion as birth control and creates revenue for the government. Affirmative action: Harmful to true equality. Obama is wrong to support it. Military: Raise the salaries of our heroes and increase funding to troops in Afghanistan. Catching Bin Laden is a top priority. This is something I praise Obama for doing. Economy/stimulus money: Should be going specifically to education, tax cuts, pay raises for military personal, and public works projects for green energy jobs. Taxes: I will not now, nor will I ever support trickle down economics, Reaganomics etc. However, I would lower taxes on the wealthy. With trickle down, the working class cannot invest in themselves because they pick up the burden of the top five percent not paying taxes. However, if the rich are taxed at the high rate they are now, it is difficult for these companies to reinvest in new jobs. There can be a balance here. The wealthy would pay on no more than five percent of their income, and by wealthy I mean those making 150'000 plus a year. I would give tax credits to small businesses who offer health benefits to employees, and per employee hired. A low tax rate, combined with cutting wasteful spending will fund the stimulus money and may lead to a budget surplus. Immigration: If they get a visa, work for equal wages in the competitive market, they are welcome in my book. This is the land of opportunity. But, if they hop the fence and take American jobs for half pay, immediate deportation. No amnesty, and increase border patrol funding. An immigrant should not be eligible for workers compensation if they are not legal residents. I consider myself a moderate, blue dog democrat. A JFK democrat and Teddy Roosevelt progressive. I voted for Obama and generally approve of him, but do think there are some things he has done wrong. I can't see myself voting against him in 2012. Again, I am a democrat, just not a liberal. I voted for Bill Richardson in the NH primary. Above are the issues where I either partially or fully agree with the republicans. I support the democrats on all other issues, such as Iraq withdrawal, same sex marriage, health care reform, stem cell research, anti-torture, medicaid and medicare, and welfare (as long as it is temporary for laid off workers and not a way of life)Resistance, sorry, forgot your energy question. I support Nuclear energy, wind energy, solar energy and clean coal.Resistance: I support free trade with free countries. Communist countries, such as China, Cuba, North Korea, etc should not be dealt with. However, companies that ship jobs overseas would not be eligible for tax cuts. As far as the drug war, all illegal drugs would stay illegal, except for medical Marijuana. more

Resolved Question: Is this how we can make everyone equal?

How about if we give every single person in the country today enough money so that they are a millionaire? Then, we'd all be rich and people could stop hating the rich because they'd be rich themselves, right? Everyone could afford health care, a house, a car, a college education, etc. Except, what happens tomorrow? Some would invest the money, some would buy a house, some would buy a car, some would spend it on gambling or drugs. Then, tomorrow, once again, not everyone would be equal. You can't make outcomes equal, only opportunities. Why is it that liberals think they can demand equal outcomes? Liberals please let me know - how do you propose to guarantee equal outcomes when people have free choice? If hard work is not rewarded more than sitting on your butt, how many people are going to choose to work hard? . more

Resolved Question: Are There Any Forums/People I Can Post On/Email Regarding Questions About Civil Rights?

I wanted to ask them some things, for example, what MLK was referring to when he said: "I often find when decent treatment for the Negro is urged, a certain class of people hurry to raise the scarecrow of social mingling and intermarriage. These questions have nothing to do with the case. And most people who kick up this kind of dust know that it is simple dust to obscure the real question of rights and opportunities. It is fair to remember that almost the total of race mixture in America has come, not at Negro initiative, but by the acts of those very white men who talk loudest of race purity." or Why, if the majority of the public were Christian did they not support black people in their initiative for equal rights and what excuses they made as a result Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Man up, ignore or Lawsuit?

My 18 year old brother just got his first job at a fast food chain for the summer before going to college. He is way metro... not gay. His new boss told him the other day he needed to take off his bracelet he was wearing and hide his necklace b/c it made him look gay. WTF? Now my bro has this complex that everyone thinks he's gay. We all have no prob w/ gay people, but my brother doesn't want people to get the wrong impression, esp going to another state where he knows no one for college. He asked me how he can be "more manly"... I'm thinking he should sue the crap out of this place b/c his boss totally violated Equal Opportunity laws! The other option would be to ignore this situation entirely, b/c he is going to college in 2 months. What should my brother do? more

Voting Question: What conflict in values is expressed by the phrase separate but equal?

"Today education is perhaps the most important function of state and local government....... It is the very foundation of good citizenship....... In these days, it is doubtful that any child may be expected to succeed in life if . . . denied the opportunity of an education. Such an opportunity, where the state has undertaken to provide it, is a right which must be made available to all on equal terms . . . . Open Question: Feminist friend called me 'a disgrace to female kind'?

I've just got off phone to a 'friend' who was lecturing me about being a housewife and my wedding plans, I want a traditional wedding, being walked up the aisle, passed from farther to fiancee and all that jazz, I also love being a housewife, caring for my daughter and fiancee. She thinks that it's wrong for me to partake in 'such a oppressing ideal' and that i should not have a simple traditional wedding but 'have it done at the registrar office instead' and that if i take his name she will 'disown me as a friend' It's my understanding that feminist fight for women to have equal opportunities, and to be able to make a choice about what they want to do with their lives so what right does she have calling me a disgrace when she is the one trying to control me? I know a lot of feminists do think that these choices are wrong, but surely trying to control someones life based on what choices you think they should make is against everything that feminists believe? She's the 4th person to say similar things to me and including the amount of famous feminists that say the same it's getting annoying. If a woman chooses to go traditional and wants to be the loving caring housewife, and they enjoy it what does it matter? Don't get me wrong i don't want to be only a housewife, i'm studying psychology and car mechanics right now as i want to be a child psychologist and i want to own a mechanics business that does everything from changing a tire to a full body overhaul.Trust me, working is a hell of a lot easier then being mum and housewife, have you tried keeping an eye on a two year old whilst vacumming, ironing and doing the dishes? And Victor, there are so many GREAT reason why i want a traditional wedding, My other, older feminist friend had a traditional wedding and changed 'love, honour and obey' to 'love honour and compramise'Jane, i do understand what people have against traditional weddings, I see the giving away different though. Before i met my partner I had had a string of violent abusive relationships, making my step-father distrustful of any man that came to our home. to me it's like him saying 'i know that you will not hurt her, i can trust you with my step-daughter'I do love being a houswife, but i say 'only a housewife' cos there is so much more i want to do. I'm 19 this year, and i was caught on pregnant at 16 (i was told i'd never have children), after going in to college. Before that i was bringing up my little brother, so, although i do love being a housewife, i want to be more than just a houswife. i believe that if i put my mind to it i can be the best damn child psychologist mechanic mother housewife the world has ever seen.I'm engaged, i stay home and tend to the house and our daughter while my partner works, That is the definition of a house wife isn't it?. what should i put 'housefiancee'? You're a pedantic twat! And why the hell should i be married before i had a child? why is marriage so important before children? I don't agree with abourtion, my ex raped me and i fell pregnant. I love my daughter to bits and being married before having a child does not effect how much you can love, cherish and care for said child. not only are you pedantic, you a complete and utter a$$e hole. wake up to the 21st century and respect mine and plenty of other peoples decision! more

Resolved Question: Should liberals give Conservative minority status?

Lets face it we are hated and discriminated against. If we say we love Jesus we are mocked and ridiculed. We are not allowed to have our children instructed in our faith at schools but the liberals force creationism into their minds. We ar exempt from working in a school system because of our faith. We are forced if we do to teach what we believe is a false teaching against our Lord. liberals continually claim to be superior to us. Then vote in affirmative action and Equal opportunity for Conservatives. Shouldn't it be a hate crime to bash a conservative.LOL!!!!!!!Pea brained idiot Cap...you sound like such a intellectuall.see what i mean..If you think this one upset you read my next.. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090627143352AAs45hAwas just figuring if we were minority and that would almost make us all equal again. I have two deserving candidates for India's highest civilian award Bharat Ratn. I have listed my views why I think these are most deserving candidates for Bharat Ratn. I do not consider any politician of any party deserving candidate for Bharat Ratn. Can you add more to this list? Dr. Ashok Jhunjhunwala: A firm believer that India needs Indian solutions, this professor at IIT, Madras goes beyond just teaching. Resolved Question: Is "Liberalism" what "Liberals" Practice?

If it is then why aren't the liberals in America Practicing it? Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism Liberalism is a broad class of political philosophies that considers individual liberty and equality to be the most important political goals.[1] Liberalism emphasizes individual rights and equality of opportunity. Within liberalism, there are various streams of thought which compete over the use of the term "liberal" and may propose very different policies, but they are generally united by their support for political liberalism, which encompasses support for: freedom of thought and speech, limitations on the power of governments, the rule of law, an individual's right to private property,[2] and a transparent system of government.[3][4][5] All liberals, as well as some adherents of other political ideologies, support some variant of the form of government known as liberal democracy, with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law.[6] more

Resolved Question: Am I A Sexist Male Chauvinist Pig?

I was having a nice debate with a feminist, who was once a friend of mine however we have since grown apart. I overheard her and two of her friends ranting on about how they are being held down by men from ever having the opportunity to succeed in life. I am all for equal opportunity, so I simply told her that no one is holding her down and most men aren't sexist, and the response was quite irritating. She began to rant and rave about how men are the sole reason for problems in the world, so I corrected her and said the reasons for problems in this world are the happenings of both men and women, she responded to me once more by telling me that I was a sexist mail chauvinist pig and should be castrated. So here is the question, am I a sexist male chauvinist pig for telling her she was WRONG.Stevejavson: Eqaulist. Why are most of the people that make a point or disagree with her seem to get thumbs down. more

Resolved Question: ILLEGAL ALIENS ..whats the issue?

EVERYONE WORKS FOR THE SAME REASON, SUPPORT THEIR FAMILY. or so thats what i think. SO WHY CANT UNDOCUMENTED PEOPLE WORK WITHOUT BEING TALKED ABOUT IN A NEGATIVE WAY? I THINK EVERYONE DESERVES THE RIGHT, AND LAWS JUST BRAINWASH PEOPLE INTO THINKING THAT WHAT UNDOCUMENTED PEOPLE ARE DOING, IS HORRIBLE. YES, I KNOW, TAXES. BUT IF YOU WERE IN THEIR SHOES, (CROSSING THE BORDER, SNEAKING IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE, TRYING TO EARN MONEY TO SEND TO RELATIVES, BECAUSE, MEXICO IS WAY "LOWER" THAN U.S.) WOULDNT YOU WANT TO DO THE SAME? I THINK THIS ISSUE SHOULD NOT BE TALKED ABOUT AS A POLITICAL THING, ITS MORE, ... OF COMPASSION TOWARDS PEOPLE UNDOCUMENTED PEOPLE CANT EVEN GET FINANCIAL AID FOR COLLEGE, WHILE DOCUMENTED PEOPLE GET FREE COLLEGE!! SO WHY PRETEND LIKE DOCUMENTED PEOPLE DONT GET ANYTHING? LIKE ALL THE "ILLEGAL ALIENS" DO IS TAKE ALLLLL THE JOBS, AND LEAVE NONE BEHIND, FOR THE DOCUMENTED THEY GET FULL PAY FOR UNIVERSITIES!! ISNT THAT WORTH MORE THAN A SIMPLE JOB AT A WAREHOUSE? (THAT ALL THE AMERICANS COMPLAIN ABOUT?) "THERES NO MORE JOBS LEFT, BECAUSE ALL THE "ILLEGAL ALIENS" TOOK THEM" UNDOCUMENTED PEOPLE HAVE TO FIND JOBS AND DIFFERENT WAYS TO EARN MONEY TO PAY FOR SCHOOL, ALL THEY REALLY WANT, IS FOR US TO THINK! ABOUT OTHERS, AND STOP BEING SELFISH.. TO LET THEM HAVE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES.. DONT THEY DESERVE SOME? I THINK ITS NOT REALLY BASED ON: IF YOU HAVE PAPERS OR NOT, I THINK WE SHOULD ACTUALLY BE **REAL** AND FACE IT, PEOPLE ARE NOW GETTING HIRED BASED ON THEIR CHARACTER,& RESPECT. MAINLY TO "OTHERS." IM SORRY I CANT SAY ANY "PROS" ON MY OPPOSING SIDE, BUT I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE THING, EVERYONE REALLY JUST WANTS TO HELP OUT WITH WHAT THEY CAN TO SUPPORT THEIR FAMILY, TO GIVE THEM A BETTER LIFE, JUST LIKE YOU WOULD .. TO YOUR FAMILY... I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR YOUR SIDE ON THIS ISSUE. more

Voting Question: Is taco bell discriminating?

On march 24 , the company fired dozens of workers on charges of immigration status. however, neither the workers nor the wrc has receive any evidence or documentation of to justify the dismissal of workers because of their immigration status when the majority has worked more than 7 years some even 13 years. The dismissal came with a high degree of planning , two weeks before the company hire dozens of new workers to replace them, and former workers were instructed to coach the new hires before been fired. actions only demonstrate that the company planned this with time in advance, while according to testymony from workers , they did not even have the opportunity to explain their case, not a single warning until the day of dismissal. workers demand justice"after 10 years of giving our lives to Taco Bell, we are fired, without respect or gratitude, it is not just" a worker said in a interview to la comunidad news.Another reason of outrage from workers was that the new workers are paid higher than many of those who are working for many years. workers complain that the company discriminated against them, for example, the company forbade employees to speak Spanish in the stores. They also report to be treated differently for being Latinos including being assigned to most difficult tasks, lack of training and lower wages. With the assistance of the workers right center 21 of the workers have started legal action including a claim for discrimination under the Federal Equal Employment Opportunities commission. The Company has not commented publicly on the matther. Taco Bell is own by Yum! Brands, inc. which also owns pizza hut ,KFC,jong Long Silvers, and A&W. reports from Chicago reported a similar practice has happened in some Pizza Hut stores. This happened in Madison, Wisconsin. more

Resolved Question: Transgenders, will you help form AHA (American Hermaphrodite Association)?

The purpose of AHA would be to work for the total social, political, and religious acceptance of transgenders (also known as androgyns, hermaphrodites, pseudo-hermaphrodites, and intersex). Some of you calling yourselves transgenders do not know about the science of the medical conditions you have that prove you are male in female body, female in male body, or a true hermaphrodite. Some of you calling yourselves transgenders do not know you were operated on as an infant to remove visible signs of your hermaphroditism and that your own parents have lied to you for years. Some of those parents are still keeping the truth from you because they are riddled with guilt for listening to the idiot doctors who said society will not accept you if this surgery to mutilate you is not done. Some of you do not know you are true hermaphrodites with neither a male (xy) or female (xx) chromosome pattern, but with an XXY or XYY pattern instead. AHA's goals would include: -- legislation at state and federal levels banning unnecessary "sexual corrective" surgery without consent of the person upon whom the surgery is to be done, who must be 18 years of age or older to make such decision and must receive two years of counseling services prior to surgery (as people who undergo sex change operations are required to do) -- legislation that chromosome pattern be used to determine sex and gender assignment of hermaphrodites, pseudo-hermaphrodites, and suspected hermaphrodites and pseudo-hermaphrodites -- legislation that chromosome pattern readings will be used to allow changes to sex and gender assignment incorrectly assumed at birth and recorded on birth certificate and other official records -- legislation that will allow for sex and gender assignment as a hermaphrodite (for those with chromosome patterns proving true hermaphroditism) rather than male or female on all official records and documents -- legislation that requires education on hermaphroditism and pseudo-hermaphroditism in the K-12 public school systems -- legislation that bans discrimination against hermaphrodites or pseudo-hermaphrodites and places harassment of them as a hate crime -- legislation that requires equal accommodations for hermaphrodites and pseudo-hermaphrodites in restroom and locker room facilities and in opportunities to participate in sports and other gender-segregated activities in publicly-funded schools and parks and recreation programs Some other important things the group could do is help educate the public about the growing rate of pseudo-hermaphroditism that will continue to acclerate because of the endocrine-disrupting industrial pollution. You can read about that on my website page where I have compiled a number of links to reports on scientific evidence about this: http://islamali.net/quranvscorruptions/hermaphrodites.html (The accelerating rate of pseudo-hermaphroditism is a prophecy of Islam in the prophecy of it becoming very difficult to distinguish between men and women; surprise, it is coming true thanks to the industrial pollution.) If you would like to help form AHA, please email me and let's figure out a way to organize ourselves using these useful modern technologies to our advantage. AHA is not a religious organization, but is more likely to be set up as a political action committee to specifically push for our rights through legislation. I want to be accepted by others and I want to marry the woman I love. I want the lie removed from my birth certificate and my legal name changed to a male name. I want my human rights! Resolved Question: Why do women expect men to be gentlemen?

Women expect men to be gentlemen. I disagree with this statement. I don't believe that men have to be gentlemen to women. Agreeing to be a gentlemen means agreeing that men are inferior to women. Examples: You open the door she walks through. You get out of the car in the rain, walk around, and open her door. What exactly justifies a women being treated like that in an era when women are claiming equality, demanding equal pay for equal work, demanding equal opportunities, ability to run for president, they have the right to vote. I don't understand why women should be treated as superior in any way, shape, or form. Women will say that it's part of tradition and how they were raised. Just because women were raised that way doesn't make it right. Some people were raised to burn crosses and join the Klu Klux Klan, it doesn't make it right. Why should men do anything for women that women aren't expected to do anything for men? Being a gentlemen meant something in an era when women couldn't vote, women couldn't work, women couldn't go to college, women couldn't finish high school, women had to raise the kids, women had to be home all the time. In those days being a gentlemen made sense. Back in the days when women had to do all the drudge work and the man came home after a long day and it was a whole different story back then. But in todays day and age, women work, women have equal opportunities, more women to go college than men now. So it's like, "why do we owe you?" In the 21st century, women do not deserve this kind of treatment and I think men who do it are fools. I want women to tell me why they deserve this special treatment. If you say "child bearing," ... well, I'll tell you what, when you have my children, get back to me. Why don't women open the door for the man? If you say "because he's the man," what exactly does that mean? It's amazing of how women love to complain about sexism and yet they would make a statement like that. So what if he's the man. That's just preposterous. more

Resolved Question: Do you think that many people confuse feminism with misandry?

To wit: Feminism is the idea that women deserve equal rights, equal pay, equal opportunities and the right not to be harassed on the basis of her gender (essentially, in a nutshell) Misandry is the hatred of men: The idea that by virtue of "maleness" men, all men, and only men are responsible for the majority of problems here on earth. That women are entitled to special rights that men somehow owe women something by virtue of their "maleness" It seems there are a lot of people on this section who confuse the term "feminism" with "misandry" It seems to me, that very few women are misandric; they're just want equal rights etc. How is that a bad thing? Then there are a lot of guys who think that every woman who is a feminist is out to get him. Isn't what he really means is a misandrist? And here's why the question: Feminism is a good thing. Misandry is a bad thing (just like misogyny is a bad thing) And it seems like misandry, real or perceived is giving feminism a bad rap. The term (feminism) has become loaded, and shouldn't we straighten out the semantics. To reiterate, all a feminist is someone who believes in equality for women. Isn't that a given today? Who, here doesn't believe in that? Misandry is simply hating men? And I think there are very few misandrists out there, and I would think they are the bane of the feminists existence. I mean, for what real feminism is, everyone I respect is a feminist. My girlfirend is a feminist. My boss is a feminist. I am a feminist (and proud to be one), Our president is a feminist. Our secretary of state is a feminist etc, I could spend all day on this. I just think we need to get our terms straight and use the term "feminist" correctly and with pride and respect, because it is a good thing. What do you think?Good answer, Dark eyes. And I also agree with Molly that we need to be sticklers about using our terms correctly for this very reason.Really good point, Rio.Tanya's point is also good. Wouldn't it be great if we could just all call ourselves equalists without any politically loaded connotations. Believe it or not, it's not too far beyond our reach. It's been a good discussion, but now I have to go off to work..... Bleah! more

Voting Question: Is it THAT hard to find a girl that is smart? (more serious now)?

well, first of all, I am a Mexican and in the Mexican culture, the men usually like to portray agressive and masochistic behaviors. its mostly about that the man is in charge and the man is the center of authority. and the man will yell at her, call her bad names and even hit her if she doesn't listen, or even if she comes late from that store over there at the corner or avenida revolucion. but yeah I think you guys probably know what I mean. I being Mexican never wanted to do this. When I was a kid I would say that I want to avoid being like this as much as possible. and because no one choses their gender, I thought women and men should be paid the same and should have equal opportunity as men. I wanted to be nice, Years have passed now and a lot of them I've met are like animals. They only listen after the 3rd, 4th, or even the 5th time when I yell at them and call them names. And if you insult them or hit them, its okay since they will forget it within the next day, just like most animals. like they say, the back of my hand is strong enough for a man, but also made for a woman. and hey, if you ask them to do something and they don't listen, you shout give them a good beating, that will learn not to not listen to you again, besides that will give them better character and like I said they will forget the next day and love you just like the day before. All they do is wine about everything. they expect you to do everything, thats not cool. I then started realizing why they (the Mexican men) do this. All they do is wine, they are liars, they will cheat on you with another guy if your not careful, they fall for any guy, they either ignore you or will start talking to you about stupid boring stuff nobady cares about. This is what I thought about my ex, google "la piojosa lyrics" and put the lyrics in an online translater and you will get the basic gist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yU3KN0qTfRgbut yeah, why aren't there any more smart women? Most are all now stubborn and rebellious with what you tell them to do. Men should give them a proper beating and teach them a lesson if they dont listen more

Resolved Question: Does America really want to end Racism?

A large majority of America believes racism is counter-productive, but it seems like every day you read an article that seeks not to end racism, but inflame it. It doesn't seem like we are striving towards equality at all. It seems like we are fostering anger, resentment, paranoia, and being way too sensitive about everything. Personally, I think we need 100% equal education opportunities and education spending across the board in schools, from Brooklyn to Beverly Hills. Private schools should required to let in people from lower socioeconomic classes of all races. And, that is the end of it... you are the product that you create yourself. The white man didn't repress the black man. The Mexican and Black man didn't steal a job from a white person. We have to know that anybody can become anybody these days, look at our president. If a company has unfair hiring practices based on race, then they can be sued into non-existence, simple right? more

Resolved Question: Are banks and insurance firms controlling our lives?

I mean in this day and age you will need credit card to finance a decent house or a respectable car. The banks decide what determines good credit and responsible account holder. They supposedly have this"Fair Credit Reporting Act" and "Equal Opportunity Act". But what they decide to be a responsible person is open to their interpretation. I always thought if a person pays his debt back on time he is responsible, and ANYTHING else should NOT matter. But unfortunately there is more to it than that. Unless a person works for 15 years for big investments, then he won't have anything worth anything. And for insurance, what is up with the fact they can't give people their statistics and formulas that determine rates. The only lame excuse they give you is they don't want other companies "stealing" their data. Well then insurance should just be ran by the government. It might as well be especially any mandatory car insurance which is a "government sanction private business". But the the issue with insurance, is that they can't say or are allowed to say exactly why a person pays the determined premium. And if you file too many claims they can drop you. What about car insurance you have to have that or you can't drive. Driving is necessary part of modern life. Most people canNOT ride a bike, bus, pay for a taxi, hire a driver, or carpool, because it is does not work with their schedule or cost too much money. more

im working a very short job for 9 days at a gun range. they hire like 200 kids for the california state shoot, so its a good opportunity for a 15 year old like myself to make some money. our work hours vary and we get minimum wage, but from what people have told me, we dont get paid overtime. theres 72 work hours (8 hours, 9 days) total and anything over that is paid overtime. but say i work 10 hours one day, then the next i work 6. so it equals our to 8 hours for 2 days. i get no overtime for the day i worked 10 hours. this it he first job ive ever worked so i really dont know how any of this works. is it legal to not get paid for that? if its not, what can i do about it also... just a random question... how much is minimum wage exactly? and how much is tax...i live in california thanks :) more

Resolved Question: What do American Indians think about the caste system in India?

(Disclaimer: I'm not racist, and I have had many brilliant Indian friends, so that is why I am asking. I do not want to awkwardly impose my beliefs on anyone I know, so I want to know how approach the situation and where the boundaries are.) I know the caste system is a part of India's culture, and it is hard to break from tradition (just as America has had its difficulties), but there doesn't seem like there is a push in India to alleviate socioeconomic hardships for the lower class. In America, we strive for a strong middle class through equal education opportunities, or even unequal opportunities for the lower class and under-represented. Do Indians think we are foolish for this? Do you think things will stay status quo for a awhile in India or do you think it is time for a change? p.s. I've been to Chennai, Delhi, and Agra, so I know India is rich in Spirituality and has many other gifts. more

Resolved Question: Is the "choice for men" movement anything more than backlash against abortion rights?

Tell the truth....what you really want is to return to a time when abortion was illegal, right? If I'm wrong here, please tell me what outcome you are seeking. I can tolerate and even respect the anti-abortion belief system. But what I see in these arguments is all sorts of justification for men to opt out of parental duty under the premise of equality of choice. Please. We all know how reproduction works, and we all know its not "equal." We also know that abortion rights are unlikely to be significantly changed regardless of who is in the White House or Supreme Court. So....what do men truly want concerning their reproductive systems? Let's let go of political correctness and academic arguments for equality on paper - just tell me what REAL outcomes you would like to see. If you want casual sex without consequences, just say so. If you want abortion to be eradicated, say so. Let this question be an opportunity for freedom of expression. And in the spirit of freedom of expression I ask that respondents make reasonable efforts to abide by the Community Guidelines to avoid having this question and all of its diverse answers deleted."We dont want women socialised to think that we have to support them and that they have a right to take our money and property." Thank you - That is very succinct. And I agree. Personal responsibility is what we sould be promoting, not dependency.Samuel Cameron: "So in societies that permit women to have post-conception reproductive choice, men should have the right to opt out of fatherhood by a certain date. " Fair enough. The time limitation enables the woman to retain her choice to abort or not with knowledge that there will be no support from dad. But now how do you address the issue of supporting the child (assuming the mother made the choice to carry to term) when the father has legally opted out? This is a dilemma many women face - single and pregnant, no father in the picture.... how do we feed, clothe and diaper this helpess infant? And bear in mind that a single parent must pay someone else to care for their child while they work. If we entertain the idea of a legal opt out, we must at the same time offer financial solutions to support the child. What do you propose?Hopscotch: Your sarcasm is unwelcome. But at least I have the courage and character to allow you to express yourself instead of blocking you, as you blocked me from your questions.Well, Hopscotch, I hope you can see now that I am the kind of person who encourages open discussion, not the kind who has edgy questions deleted. We may not agree on these issues, but if the converstion is shut down, we'll never make any progress toward resolving them. So - do YOU have a suggestion for how to support the child if the father is granted an opt-out?Slay - assuming abortion rights will not change, that only leaves some wiggle room in the father's financial responsiblity. I'm willing to negotiate there...but I am not willing to set up a system that allows men to impregnate multiple women and bear absolutely no financial responsibility. He has to be accountable somewhere. Either use condoms and avoid pregnancy or offer a little $$ help for the diapers and stuff (or the abortion). None of that stuff is free, ya know....and her birth control pills are about three times the cost of your condoms. What are you willing to negotiate?Slay: "And anyway, you're still making the assumption that the woman has to be taken care of under all circumstances." No, the woman can take care of herself. But if she gets pregnant, he's responsible for half the expenses associated. I'm in the US, where medical care is only free for the destitute. Average people pay through the nose for decent medical care. You seem to be advocating for men to have all the sex they want with no consequences. Please, say it ain't so.Slay: You do realize that you just hung yourself, don't you? Your attitude overshadows any rational ideas you may have offered here. I tried to open up a discussion, an exchange of ideas, and you just shut it down with your ranting. Thanks, no need to reply again. more

Resolved Question: The ignored issue facing women today: Objectification. What do you think?

As I graduated High School, and have now been in college for a couple years, I began noticing more and more that though everyone wants to claim that men and women are almost always treated equally, women are really objectified more often than not. How much less often do men have to be afraid to go to a party because they will be branded as sluts, or even expected to do things sexually with guys because they're at a party? Why is it cool to sleep with a woman and leave her, using her as a means of sexual gratification with no regard for who she is? Few people doubt that women and men should have equal job opportunities and pay, but yet our entire society looks the other way, and encourages men to sleep with multiple women when they're young, with no regard for who they are. This is encouraging young women to appeal to men only sexually, and stops them from seeing themselves through their own eyes, and causes them only to try to look attractive to men, rather than to develop their interests and personalities for a life that's more fulfilling than always appealing to some man. Is this how anyone wants their daughter to be treated? The issue is not what men and women choose to do, it's that their are negative consequences to women having the same freedoms as men. If everyone looks down on you for it, how can you call it freedom, and the 21st century? Everyone wants to ignore the societal attitudes that bring women down and say that everything is fine and we can do what we want. Yeah, but why is it ok to punish us and look down on us for doing it? more

Resolved Question: U.S history and Government?

The United States issued the Open Door Policy (1899-1900) primarily to 1. bring democratic government to the chinese people 2. secure equal trade opportunities in China 3. force China to change its immigration policies 4. use China as a stepping stone to trade with Japan more

Resolved Question: What's the big deal with race?

White people nowadays seem to be afraid of doing ANYTHING at all that in the wildest dreams of a lunatic could barely be misconstrued as racist. And then when the subject of racism is brought into the conversation, they give some bullshit principle about how singling people out by categorizing them by race is horrible. This is stupid. And blacks aren't any better. Most blacks are poor and liberal. So they also say some remark about how racism is horrible and affected their lives bla bla bla... and then they contradict themselves by being racist. Honestly, from what I've observed, the group most racist against whites are liberal blacks. Kinda ironic, eh? Asians are the absolute worst group with racism, yet no one talks about it. Apparently there is a hierarchy of asians, where the chinese and japanese are on top, and the filipinos and vietnamese(I believe) are on the bottom. So these people are able to discriminate against people... that look the same! What the hell is this? When people think of racism, they all think of whites vs blacks, while the asians are in plain sight hating each other. Christ people, sure, racism isn't good when blown out of proportion(killings by the KKK) but a racist joke once in a while is hilarious, and other races usually appreciate you including their race in them. That is unless, they are 1. Dumbshit whites. 2. Liberal blacks. 3. Traditional Asians. I'm sorry if there's confusion on how to answer this question... maybe give some feedback... or something. I don't care. PS: To give you all an equal opportunity at hating me and my observations, yes, I am a full white republican male. -The ToeSidney, what I said IS exactly how those populations act in mass. That's why I said MOST blacks are poor and liberal. In this country, poor = liberal. And if you look at statistics, blacks are poor. There are always the few who are rich and republican. That's fine. And I would have no problem with saying that I categorized people. If I hadn't, this question wouldn't exist, and you would have never called me a bigot.Happy Pappy, I agree with your remark on whites being racist. However, the same is true for all races. If one was given the choice to have his own race decimated leaving the rest of the world spared, or letting his race survive while the rest of the world's races died out, it is highly likely that he will not choose the first. And where I live, most of the workers pretty much everywhere are mexican, heh. more

Voting Question: Please help with my letter?

Could you please help with my letter? Hello this is a letter that I wrote. Could you please fix any errors if it has any. I would really appreciate it. Also could you please give me a rating on this letter, whether it is bad or good or excellent? Thanks in Advance Here is my letter, Dear Pinks, How have you been? I miss you so much and I really need you; I am missing you all especially mum and dad. How are Tony and your husband doing? Say hi to all of them from me. After settling here in California, I have realized that I was thinking wrongly about our culture. Our culture was really a big shade for us to gather under; it was covering us all and protecting us from any unexpected dangers that many people without values fall into. It is extremely important here to stick with it. However, I still do not go along with it in several points. I still think that women should play sports without any pressure because they are equal to men. I don't think you can feel it as much as I do because you never experienced a problem like that before. Anyway, don't worry; my life is not too boring here. Unlike you, I am not planning to tie the knot yet; I still want to finish my courier first. However, if I want to do it later on, I'll do it in classic way, not too traditionally Indian because honestly, I do not like to have a wedding like yours! How is your baby doing? Tell him that your aunty has been receiving too many unexpected surprising awards and that she will go absolutely crazy because she still cannot believe herself utill now!!! Before around a month, the American scout has allocated a room for us in the WATB (Women American Team for Beginners) to play in. At the beginning I didn't like their coach and thought that he neglected me because he never commented on my play, but he always did for the other girls. After two weeks from then, and after hard training and lots of sweating, I was stunned when he gave me a pass to play in the Olympics. He never watched me play! Maybe I didn't notice that I was watched by him. I can't believe until now that he has selected me! WOW!!! Oh, not only me, but Jules as well. The following morning I went to confirm playing in the Olympics; I just couldn't wait for the tryouts during that week. Subsequently, after doing my best in the Olympics tryouts, I, Jules and eight of the other girls' names were summoned by the American football department. At eight in the morning yesterday we made our way up to the department to see what is hidden for us this time. It was another mind-boggling surprise and guess what? They have selected us to represent them in the international Women team for beginners. They said that we showed good playing skills and control on the ball. Don't get jealous, ha ha ha!!! Words can’t really describe how great an opportunity this is for me. I am so glad!! Without mum and dad, things wouldn't work out this way. I am so glad that I have taken this opportunity. Applying for the Olympics and playing for the beginners national team is just the start of my way. I will train everyday harder than before from six in the morning until nine. Three hours every day! I think that is enough? So try to contact me through my email address and send me the babies images; I can't wait till I see them. Resolved Question: why does our culture still have the need for marriage?

We know that it doesn't work (more than 50% divorce rate). Our women and men have more or less equal rights and opportunities. Tax benefits are limited and in some cases can be detrimental. Legal matters can create unfair advantage do to outdated traditions. Love... is this really the only thing holding it together, because the older I get, the more does religion sound like complete non-sense and should not dictate how men and women interact. more

Resolved Question: If feminsts are really about equality, what are feminists doing to fight sexism against men?

or are feminists only about womens rights and so on? In the United States, boys' sports teams in colleges have been shut down in order to maintain gender parity with the amount of women who enter sports on campus through Title IX gender equality policy. [43] Young ladies at some campuses have shown solidarity against the ostrasization of boys by creating videos to bring attention to the issue.[44] The Obama administration is investigating the implementation of forced gender parity through Title IX to science, technical and engineering departments in colleges as well. Some organizations have expressed concern to the further denigration for opportunities for boys In the United States it is a popular and lawful conception that men are not meant to have a parental role with their children and as such custody of children in divorce is often rewarded to the mother. As late as 1971, the Minnesota State Bar Association's handbook advised lawyers and judges that: "except in very rare cases, the father should not have custody of the minor children. He is usually unqualified psychologically and emotionally The United States has created the Cabinet Level advisory Council of Women and Girls to oversee all governmental policy and functions of all Cabinet Level offices as to how they affect the needs of women and girls. There is no such high level council for men or boys. Excerpt from a lobbying letter by N.O.W: "This Office on Women should seek new ways to foster the full potential of tens of millions of women and girls of all races and from all walks of life -- through policies, budgeting, inter-agency coordination and special initiatives The U.S. Center for Disease Control in conjunction with the American Psychiatric Association found that of heterosexual relationships involving violence, 50.3% involve non-reciprocal violence, and of that 50.3%, women were the instigators 70.7% of the time, although "physical injury was more likely to occur when the violence was reciprocal."[53] Men have no laws such as VAWA or Violence Against Women Act that afford them equal protection under law. Linda Kelly states in her thesis, DISABUSING THE DEFINITION OF DOMESTIC ABUSE: HOW WOMEN BATTER MEN AND THE ROLE OF THE FEMINIST STATE in the Florida State University Law Review that domestic violence is equally the province of women.[54]Mandatory Military Service Many countries around the world make it mandatory for males to join the military, but not females. Men at 18 years of age in the United States are required to register for military conscription to be drafted to war or military service. Women are not required to register with the Selective Service System and have no obligation to serve in the military in the case of a draft. more

Resolved Question: Can you please proofread this?

“Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country,” were the words echoed by a famous martyr, John F. Kennedy. His words inspired a young generation of Americans to give back to their communities. People have a responsibility to make this country a better place for all to live and make sacrifices for those who don’t have privileges. His words still holds true. The value of community service is important, it benefits everyone, and it’s my way of life. Some people believe that volunteering is boring and worthless. However, this assumption is wrong. Volunteering is one of the best ways to reduce depression, make friends, and gain experience needed for a job. Many colleges and employers want people with experience, the skills that could be earned through volunteering. Volunteering benefits everyone; it raises confidence in the workplace, it builds character, reduces time constraint on employees, and it’s a great way to give back to communities. The benefit of community service outweighs the negatives. Cynthia Ozick once said, “We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.” Cynthia meant that one should appreciate their life, I would agree with her. I’m thankful for that I live in the United States and to live in the land of opportunity where food, money, and jobs are abundant. For some people who live the life of luxury, they become narrow minded that they see nothing below their lifestyles. A world away, there is a place that is hidden behind a curtain and if the curtain were to be lifted reality would be shown: poverty, wars, genocide, the problems are manmade, but they can be solved by man. I had volunteered at Regions Hospital for almost 2 years and I made many friends and gained experience. With the experience at Regions Hospital, I was able to get a job at a nursing home to save up for my future. “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country,” asks us to examine a question, what can we do to improve the lives of others and to become an equal contributor to this nation? As the essay as shown, volunteering is important, it benefits everyone, it builds character, and earns experience. The skills acquired by volunteering are needed to make America a better place for everyone. more

Resolved Question: I am looking for an honest informative opinion on a particular real estate inquiry/idea.?

The New York City real estate market has taken a beating in past two years, with prices tip toeing lifetime lows. There is no doubt in my mind that the prices will return (at least to an extent) to what they once were. This looks like an unbelievable opportunity to make money for people with CAPITAL. But.... What if a group of people came up with the appropriate capital to buy an/group of apartments for the purpose of future sale. For example, If six people came up with $50,000 and bought a 300,000 dollar apartment. In the contract it would explain that all 6 owners are equal, and none of the owners are to live in the apartment. Basically the apartment would be vacant or leased (by a nonowner) until the market returns to normal. What are the holes in my idea? Is this legal/acceptable? I know the concept is very broad and I am leaving out numerous details, but feel free to enlighten me. more

Resolved Question: Who are the real feminists?

...Because there are two main groups. (yea, I know,,, there are dozens of feminist categorizations, but there is a lot of overlap between the splinter groups and they'd fall into the 2 main categories when push came to shove.) The first group are the women that want equal opportunity. These feminists are almost like a "neighborhood watch" group where they'd only say something if there was a need. No crimes... no need. These women just want a society where men and women are treated equally. The second group are the women that want equal outcome. These feminists see society as an "us vs. them" situation as it relates to men and women. Unfortunately, these feminists run the show. They support the modern feminism model based upon Marxist class warfare where women are the oppressed class and men are the oppressors. This 2nd group feminists are VERY politically active and have been shaping our society for decades. They push for laws that benefit women exclusively and fight laws that would give men equal footing. They look at any instance where men come out on top and cry "discrimination" so they may put fourth some sort of communist legislation granting women equal outcome. Now the thing of it is... They BOTH call themselves feminists. How can two groups of polar opposites supposedly stand for the same thing? Group 1 also points the finger at group 2 every time people call them on their actions. I wonder why group 1 only seems concerned about it when they're cornered and have to defend themselves. Maybe group 1 doesn't really don't have a problem with group 2 considering they never care to comment about them and use them as a convenient scapegoat whenever they need them. So... is there really a difference? And if so... Which group are the real feminists? ...Because you can't stand for both "equality" and "inequality with anti-male sexism" at the same time. more
