I mean in this day and age you will need credit card to finance a decent house or a respectable car. The banks decide what determines good credit and responsible account holder. They supposedly have this"Fair Credit Reporting Act" and "Equal Opportunity Act". But what they decide to be a responsible person is open to their interpretation. I always thought if a person pays his debt back on time he is responsible, and ANYTHING else should NOT matter. But unfortunately there is more to it than that. Unless a person works for 15 years for big investments, then he won't have anything worth anything. And for insurance, what is up with the fact they can't give people their statistics and formulas that determine rates. The only lame excuse they give you is they don't want other companies "stealing" their data. Well then insurance should just be ran by the government. It might as well be especially any mandatory car insurance which is a "government sanction private business". But the the issue with insurance, is that they can't say or are allowed to say exactly why a person pays the determined premium. And if you file too many claims they can drop you. What about car insurance you have to have that or you can't drive. Driving is necessary part of modern life. Most people canNOT ride a bike, bus, pay for a taxi, hire a driver, or carpool, because it is does not work with their schedule or cost too much money. more

The market should dictate all aspects of people's lives. Minimum wage should be abolished. Who cares that nobody could survive on the market equilibrium wage of, say, $3/hour? Public schools should be abolished. Terrorism is bad if other people do it, but it's OK if the US does it. After finding no WMD in Iraq, we changed our goal to "liberating" the Iraqi people. Never mind that Iraq was a convenient oil-rich and strategic region in the middle east. It is OK that the US overthrew democratically elected leaders and replaced them with brutal tyrants, when they did something against US interests (nationalization of oil supplies, copper, etc) The US always brings "freedom" and "democracy" to every other country. All countries that hate the US hate us because of our "freedom" Abortion is murder, but killing civilians in war is fair game. Christians aren't capable of committing terrorism. 1.Step 1: A civil rights need is born For complex historical reasons beyond the scope of this article, a civil rights need is identified on behalf of a group. The pendulum effect is viewed as bipolarity between two groups. With the group on the left deemed as being the oppressed group and the group in the right as being the oppressors. The relationship may be between women and men, blacks and whites or homosexuals and heterosexuals. 2.Step 2: The legitimate phase of the movement The oppressed group does indeed suffer from legitimate grievances. They become aware of the need to change their standing and push the pendulum of equal rights with their actions, to correct these grievances and to improve their image in the zeitgeist. They face some resistance from either side, but they also face a lot of support from the oppressor side, who truly emphasises with their plight. This is the legitimate stage of the movement as the oppressed side gains the rights that they clearly should have. Luminaries of the men’s right movement such as Glenn Sacks and Warren Farrell freely admit that there are genuine gains that feminism has achieved, things such as legislation that codifies the right to equal pay such as the equal pay act of 1963 in the U.S. and 1970 in the U.K., the right to own property and to object to genuinely misogynistic attitudes as can be seen in the old style advertisements and public service announcements. I agree with this attitude personally. There is no such thing as a civil rights movement that has done no good. This is the legitimate and honourable stage of the movement. The pendulum is even. 3.Step 3: The illegitimate phase of the movement The transition between this step and the last is hard to identify as the oppressed group transitions from generally doing good to doing bad. The oppressed group now has a respected and powerful lobby acting on its behalf that can affect the law, at this point no reasonable person could describe the group as being “oppressed” anymore, but the movement has turned into an industry of grievance mining, looking under every rock for signs of oppression and slights. It is important to emphasise the members of the group are not lying to keep up the appearance if being oppressed, they truly believe it, but they are in too deep and lack the ability to holistically view the progress that their group has made, to take “yes” for an answer. The “oppressions” that their group supposedly suffers become more and more academic and created out of whole cloth. The goals of the group come more from the radical activist members, who mostly reside in academia. Issues that they choose to fight for include things such as redefining language, redefining history, redefining their definition of oppression and re-characterising the successes of the movement into further examples of oppression. A prime example of manufacturing problems is to me, one of the most reprehensible aspects of modern feminism. This is where feminism has achieved a world where women have no less opportunity than men, can take any degree they want to and choose their own career. And then when women do not flock to careers that feminists want them to, they cites this as proof of work that still needs to be done for women’s rights. I think that women who feel empowered to enter the fields they want to enter means that the work of women’s rights is mostly done. To spin the liberation of women into an attempt to further victimise them is a disgusting act that is to spit in the eye of the good achievements that feminism has made. The worst effect of this illegitimate phase of the movement is to brainwash the younger members of the group into hating men. The feminists have already refined history and distorted the facts to where, as a feminist said in an email to me, half of women are raped and the fraction of feminist haters dwindles in comparison to the number of men who hate women. Yeah, we sure are terrible. None of this has any relation to the truth but what is to be the expected outcome if a young woman is told that men as such beasts? I’ll tell you the outcome because I saw it firsthand when I graduated in 2005. It appears that women want to have all of the things that men have, including an equal number of upper management jobs. Why is it that they only choose the good things and not the bad things? Here is what they will need to do to gain equality: Commit suicide at 4-5 times their current rate. Men are way ahead in this area so women will need to step up their act if they want to be equal. Find guys who have fallen on hard times, are unemployed, and need someone to give them a break, a house, a new job opportunity etc. Currently only men "rescue" women, and not the other way around. I need to print it out at my school library. I can't access my email there, and my printer doesn't work at home. Were Nora’s Actions (from “A Doll’s House by Ibsen) Justified? It was in the “action-packed” living room of Nora and Torvald where all of Nora’s actions unfolded during the course of Ibsen’s play “A Doll’s House”. They key word here is “actions” because Nora did a lot in just three acts of a play. She went from seemingly innocuous actions such as sheepishly lying about eating macaroons to the far more grave involvement with the blackmailing Krogstad and the attempted concealment of the forged loan note from her husband. But her ultimate action was a simple one: she walked out of her home and slammed the door. It is this act that will be discussed because it is the ultimate response, a proxy for all the activity of the play. And it is this final maneuver that I assert was unjustified. There is evidence in the play that Nora could have chosen an alternate outcome that would have been beneficial to all involved, especially her. Before discussion of any alternate outcome, it is important to admit that Nora did have reason to feel she was treated poorly, like a child, and given no opportunity to better herself or have a legitimate intellectual engagement with Torvald. This was standard fare during the time and place of the play. It was the rule and not the exception. Perhaps not the rule during this time was the growing rebellion of Nora starting from the aforementioned consumption of macaroons to her adult discussions and plotting (away from her husband) with Mrs. Linde and Dr. Rank. It is clear that Nora’s understanding of her frustrating and constricting relationship with Torvald is crystallizing in her mind as events unfurl, culminating in a final argument when Torvald reads the original mail containing the blackmail threat (to be later rescinded by Krogstatd). But it is this final argument with her husband that could have been a turning point instead of a point of no return. In Act 3, after Torvald had burned the contract, the couple discussed the situation in a serious adult manner. Torvald does show evidence that he is willing to change, namely, to treat Nora in a more respectful manner. Nora with her growing wisdom had the opportunity to at least listen further. She was in a position of strength and could have bargained on her own behalf to gain greater assurance from Torvald that she be treated more as an equal. Admittedly, marriage counselors were not around in Nora’s era, but maybe seeking the counsel of the wise Mrs. Linde would have be useful. The point is Nora was unwilling to try to save her marriage and in that regard the fact that the preponderance of her relationship’s downfall was due to Torvald is irrelevant. Besides, there were other reasons for Nora to make an effort to save her marriage. Those reasons are the three children. It was selfish for Nora to abandon them since she claims to have loved them dearly. If we put the issue of selfishness aside, there is something worse. Nora was being hypocritical about her actions as well. She felt she was not raised with dignity by her father, again, always being treated like a pet or doll. By vanishing from the scene, Nora ensures that her children, especially the girl, will not be raised in the best way. There is no reason to suppose that the nanny will not follow the will of Torvald. In summary, I have stated my reasons that Nora made a bad choice in walking out the door, in particular, not taking the opportunity to explore reconciliation with Torval that would improve the marriage and sustaining the loss of her children. If I am allowed the fantasy of writing the sequel to “A Doll’s House”, there is no great evidence to predict that Nora would have been successful after she left the house. She had little money, no occupation, and was entering a hostile (especially to women) world. True, she had her dignity, but you cannot get nourishment and shelter from an abstract quality. In short, Nora’s final action was not justified and would have led to a bad outcome for her and her children. more
