Originally I wanted to be a substance abuse counselor/Psychologist but now I'm definitely exploring my options and have plenty of time to decide. I love to help people and I've noticed that whenever it comes to issues of race, I always have a statement to make. Always. It's like I can't stop myself and then when I'm done talking, I leave them speechless. I start University in about a month and will be a Psychology major. (Bachelor of Arts) I've done a little research and came up with this definition of a civil rights leader: "a leader of the political movement dedicated to securing equal opportunity for members of minority groups" However, I'd like to get opportunities for ALL races, not just the minority. I see so many leaders like Al Sharpton for example stating most of the time, "The black people this and the black people that" But what about the asian people? The latinos and latinas? The whites? The other nationalities out there? Do we not all bleed the same color?? Are we not all human?? Does a civil rights activist only tend to the needs of the minorities? Or can they tend to the needs of all races thus resulting us living more peacefully in unity? I don't mind persecution. I actually love being face to face with racists. Resolved Question: Here is my basic proposal on a new system of public education. What is your opinion?

On the Issue of Education The goal of public education is to provide a well-rounded education as well as an opportunity to follow a more narrowed path towards a desired career. Students will be required to learn the basic subjects: English, math, history, science, music/art, nutrition and physical fitness. Once the core requirements have been completed, students will be able to choose a path, if confident about their career choice, or be able to continue pursuing the liberal arts while be able to experiment with other subjects as well. By providing interests that will cater to all, we hope to decrease the drop out rate and have stronger young men and women entering the workforce upon graduation. Schooling is mandatory for all children ages five to sixteen unless special circumstances may arise. The federal government will contribute at least forty cents for every dollar spent on public education and more may be allotting if deemed necessary. Since the government is contributing a large amount, certain guidelines will be put into effect concerning how the money is to be spent. Since technology is constantly changing the face of our school system, a committee will be summoned every five years to make adjustments to the current schooling system and budget. The curriculum will be left to the states to decide but there will be nationalized tests to be sure that all states are providing education at an expectable level. In the sixth grade students will be tested on the following subjects and skills areas: Reading and interpreting passages and their ability to write Basic mental math skills and be able to complete problems that will prepare them for higher level math Analyze scientific graphs and know basic facts of the different divisions of science Answer multiple choice questions on general United States and world history Once into high school students will be required to complete a certain number of courses before graduation. This is to give every student a basic knowledge and for those who are unsure of what to do next, this curriculum will help students realize what it is they are truly interested in. Although these courses are required for students, there is the possibility of testing out of the subject to not make learning repetitive and dull. Required courses are as follows: Three years of English Two years of math Two years of world history One year of United States history Two years of science Art history, studio art, history of music or music course Nutrition and health Physical fitness Once the required courses have been completed, or fulfilled by adequate testing, students can choose a track they wish to pursue. There will be upper level courses in all the basic subjects. Schools should also provide courses in computer science, business, drama, film, and other areas schools wish to include. Students may also receive credits through a work-study program if pre-approved by the school. Qualifications for the work study program involve: School approved job Reports from employer on employee status Current resume and ability to make good cover letter Ability to still take courses in school while maintaining a job (Course load will be lower for those participating in the work study program) There should also be a trade school where students can become certified in a certain profession by the time they graduate from high school and proceed directly into the work force. Such programs may include but are not limited to: Auto body repair and technology Computer technology Carpentry Cosmetology Criminal Justice Culinary Arts Early Childhood Education Electrical Technology Electronic Technology Fashion Design Nursing Assistant Plumbing/Heating and Air Conditioning Small Animal Care Welding With increased courses being offered to students, number of school buildings themselves will need to be cut to allow all schools to be equal and to adequately use the federal funding. The judge was so incensed that he also order them to run commercials admitting their guilt. * The National Labor Relations Board has issued over 40 formal complaints against the corporation in 25 different states in just the past five years. The NLRB's top lawyer believed that their labor violations, such as Illegal spying on employees, fraudulent record keeping, falsifying time cards to avoid paying overtime, threats, illegal firings for union organizing etc., were so widespread that he was looking into filing a very rare national complaint against the company. For instance, if individuals are given the opportunity to change; I believe that this can make a positive difference in their lives to achieve personal growth and develop their lives to the fullest potential. It's getting harder these days finding an apartment that allow pets. Some apartments do not permit any children. Equal housing opportunity my a... I would like to very much have a dog again,now that I have gotten over the loss of my best friend of 14 and a half years. The rates for apartments are outrageous. I had to have my dog put to sleep on Dec. 8th,1999...I still miss him very, very much. Some landlords don't even want to hear you have children. Voting Question: What if every us citizen (over 18 & not in jail)got one million $ tax free. wouldn't that stimulate economy?

This question was posed a month ago. Yet it is a resolved question so I couldn't post a reply. So I'll start a new one. While this is a valid question that MANY have been asking. I personally think it is possible to do so. However,not with just a hand out of $1million dollars. We are seeing the down side to giving Hand outs and the abuse it causes by what's happening on Wall Street. The way this could work would be by giving credits not a lump cash sum. Rather, a credit system. And it would be for US Citizens over the age of 18 not living overseas unless they are in the armed forces or working for a government agency and they must not be in Jail or have a Prior Felony history. At the start of the credit system, there would be a 2 year moratorium on price increases for anything purchased in the USA. This will create a two fold which I'll get into later. The first draw the Citizen shall take wil be for housing. If they have an existing Mortgage, the moratorium shall state they must pay off their mortgage and stay in the home for at least 2 yrs or if they HAVE to move, they can only purchase a home of equal value. If the Citizen just lost their home to foreclosure, then they can take their credit and purchase a home at the same value as their home they lost to foreclosure. (if the home hasn't been sold by the bank, they must buy back their home from the bank) If they do not own a home and are renting, they can purchase a home equal to the value that their income level would have allowed + $100,000.00. Or what a Mortgae payment would have been equal to their rent amount + $500.00. (which ever is the greater of the two) This will stop everyone from going out and buying homes way over what they normally would have been able to afford without the hand out. And the 2 yr moratorium on moving stands for everyone to insure that price gougeing will not take place. The second thing the US Citizen can do is draw a credit to pay off bad debt. Bad debt would be any medical bills, judgements, liens,repossessions, credit card debt. Then the 3rd draw would be to pay off their car. If their car is already paid off, or over 10 yrs old, they can purchase a new car of equal or comparative value at todays standards. In otherwords, If you own a Honda Accord, you can't go out and buy a Brand New Cadillac Escalade. I think you can see where I'm going with this. The credit you take out isn't to overextend, rather get you out of debt and stay in the lifestyle you are in and can afford without being strapped by mortgage, rent, car payments and bad debt. After all these credits are obtained, your employment can be evaluated. If you have lost your job, you can take a credit to go to school to reeducate yourself. If you are currently employed, the 2 yr moratorium stands. You stay employed so as not to disrupt the balance of everyone all of a sudden wanting to be Stock Brokers or MD's and no one wants to work at a retail store as a cashier. And hopefully after these 2 yrs, the economy will be back to an even keel that more jobs will be available so those out of work, or in school can obtain a decent job with decent pay. The 4th draw will be to create a retirement account. One that cannot be touched until the age of 65. The 5th draw will be to create a college fund for your child/children that cannot be used for anything but college. The 6th draw will be to purchase health insurance. The credit will be extended for 2 yrs - giving you enough time to incorporate the payment into your budget, or hopefully have employer coverage by the 2 yr date. If you already have health insurance, you are exempt from this credit. Once everyone has a home, a car, bad debt paid off, health insurance, retirement funds, and college funds. Their credit is cut off. It's up to them to figure out how to keep from getting into overextended situations in the future. They can either take out home equity lines and run up their credit card debt, or be responsible and happy living within their means. This has been a tough 2-4 yrs for many. And I think if given this kind of opportunity - many will be content with their lifestyle and set goals and levels of success in steps, rather than with irresponsibile behaviour. It's already enough that 48 of 50 US states do not allow homosexuals to marry and be merry and live and enjoy a nonviolent joyful life. More than half the USA does NOT even have such a thing as a "Civil Union" partnerships! In Arkansas it's even worse. It's no to gay marriage, no to civil unions, AND NO to unmarried couples adopting children. And Arkansas has the state nickname "The Land of Opportunity". HOW DISGUSTING. How dare it use that name and then "OUTRIGHT DENY EQUAL OPPORTUNITY" to a distinct group of individuals who make up a minority. And especially for those who remember Matthew Shepard, a gay nonviolent boy who was hanged to a tree and left to die in Wyoming, Dick Cheney's home state, because of his sexual orientation. This is outright discrimination. And so Canada has addressed gay rights already, Massachusetts is a happy spot where everyone can live and be merry, Connecticut (The Constitution State) came to the same conclusion. It's time for the rest of America to stand up on its image of Freedom and Democracy and make it so a gay employee doesn't get fired for being homosexual. Some of the good job organizations have passed special bylaws for sex orientation since the rest of America is too intolerant.Cross-dressers and transvestites would be protected under same-sex marriage. The law just has to allow marriage to be defined as love between 1 human being and another human being. This is about freedom. Why does the Government concern itself over whether you have an X or a Y chromosome? That's the problem right there. And the violence against women act should applicable to men also who are sexually abused. Resolved Question: Do you ever wonder why you see adults working minimum wage jobs?

We all have at one time worked minimum wage jobs when we were teenagers. Minimum wage jobs are something you do when you're in high school ... maybe college, and in less common ways in graduate school. Then you move on and do something more productive. There is nothing I find more self satisfying than seeing the 32 year old pizza guy delivering pizza to my house. I just absolutely love it! In this country, everybody has at least the opportunity to go to a community college, and it isn't that difficult to go to a state university, if you choose to do that. So anybody who is 32 and is asking me if I want paper or plastic ... At one time we drank milk from our mommy's baba, but eventually you put the baba down and drink from a cup. If somebody is 32 and still drinking out of a baba, then you got a problem. People get mad at me when I bag on those who work low run jobs. Have I worked at a Carvel Ice Cream store? Yes I have. Was I a telephone solicitor and did I sell bottom of the barrel stuff? Yes I have. Did I work as a cashier at a grocery store as I was a kid going to college? Yes I did. Did I deliver newspapers? Yes I did. Did I sell advertising in lousy community newspapers over the telephone and make minimum conditions. Yes, but I did these things while I was working my way towards something better. I am not coming over to wax your car today. I don't do detailing. I'm not coming over to your place to deliver pizza. I'm not going to bring groceries to your car. Ok. Here's a rewarding career. Here's someone who knocked up his girl friend, and you know who I'm talking about. The guy who stands at the exit at Costco with the yellow high lighting pen. And he looks ... of course you got $456 worth of stuff in the cart ... and he gives this cursory glace to your cart ... you can't see everything that's in the cart. Then he takes that yellow marker and runs it through the receipt, so you can't try going through the exist again. That's very rewarding work. *sarcasim* I just want to know the name of your bastard child and where the mother lives. When I see that guy, I'm sorry, but I can't help thinking about that. Ya know, when I'm in a fast food joint and I'm deciding whether I want pastrami on my burger or cheese steak. Some of us with nothing. We all have the same public school systems. And we have community colleges. We have state universities. We have opportunities to do things with our lives. Yes I think it's perfectly fantastic when you're a senior in high school and working as a cashier at Costco. I think that's great. When you're 16, 17, or 18 ... that's great. But when I read these stories in the newspaper about people working at Albertsons the supermarket, talking about going on strike, and you got interviews with 38 year old people who are cashiers ... I'm laughing my butt off at you. I'm laughing my butt off. I'm sorry, I know it's politically incorrect to say this, because you're suppose to say that everyone is equal, everything is beautiful in it's own way, you're suppose to say these things, right? And every job is good and great to have hard working Americans ... that's what you're suppose to say. But the reality is that some of you guys just decided to ride bear back when you were 16 and now you're stuck going on strike at Albertsons or where ever you're going on strike. You kidding me? more

Resolved Question: Women Between Two Worlds - Attitudinal differences between career women and full-time homemakers?

Emancipation, Equal opportunity law... All good things but do some women who prefer staying at home and raising children might feel inferior to others who pursue a career. Or are they maybe made to believe that they are inferior. Do they feel the pressure to go out and have a career as well because society otherwise labels them as lazy? They will ignore clear evidence that suggests a female perpetrator since this goes against their training and beliefs that the only possible perpetrator of child abuse is male. Is a qualification in Women's Studies the only requirement to be a social worker? There will be another inquest and inquiry no doubt, which will put the blame squarely on Social Services, who can point to equal opportunities statistics and customer satisfaction surveys to prove they have nothing to apologise for. Resolved Question: Do we read to reinforce or beliefs, or to learn?

An interesting point was raised in an earlier question: "but as far as reading books specifically about information regarding a given issue? Maybe, but maybe they'd just read books that catered to their already held opinions and it wouldn't enlighten them at all .. People do tend to avoid things that could change their tightly held opinions on things. Like, someone who doesn't believe in evolution is highly unlikely to actually -read- about evolution." Is it true that we mostly select (information) books to reinforce what we already believe to be true? Do you personally believe that the truth of a situation is more than a matter of personal opinion? In other words, that with due attention, one can scrutinize evidence, and fairly objectively draw conclusions from it? Resolved Question: Where can a compromise be reached for gay marriage?

(Please don't respond if you can't positively contribute an answer. No hatred or vilification please. All observations are my conclusions after studying both sides of the issue.) On the side of redefining marriage to include any gender the reasons cited are; equality in legal status for their relationship, access to the same rights and privileges of heterosexual unions and the opportunity to participate in a recognized ceremony to show their love. On the side defining marriage as between a man and a woman the reasons cited are that the term marriage has already been defined in such a way that to change it would have negative effects on laws already in place that use it as a definition, that religious organizations could possibly have their rights infringed on and to not have the responsibility of parents teaching their children morals infringed on. (I tried to take the issue of whether it is moral or immoral out of the reasons since those for gay marriage do not see their relationships as immoral whereas some who are against it would say that it is.) So where can people meet in the middle? Some notes to consider: I understand why some say it is not fair to not allow gay marriage to be called "marriage" since by calling it by another name (like civil union) would indicate that it is not equal in status but on the other hand, if it were called by another term that had the same rights and privileges would it not still be equal? Is it not fair to acknowledge that by changing the definition it is not just about the legal binding of gay couples but that it has farther reaching aspects that need to be considered? I can understand that separate is not equal but just because it doesn't have the same name doesn't mean it is not equal. Blacks were denied rights because of the color of their skin. Currently (in some states) gay couples are not denied rights but to avoid legal confusion it is called by another name.I can see how calling all marriages "civil unions" as fair but I'm still concerned about the ramifications of current laws that rely on the definition as it stands.Rev Einstein - please keep your beliefs of it as a sin out of it as everyone else has so far. These are a my opinion's on what republicans criticize about Obama. I don't care if you're republican or democratic, but why do so many people think supporting gay marriage and abortions is one of Obama's flaws???! Gay Marriage Republicans act so prideful for their country; being the greatest in the world, giving everyone in it equal rights, but when it comes to homosexuals, all of that suddenly vanishes, and instantly not all people can have the rights everyone else has like getting married!!!!! Here's my opinion, if you have a child and feel like you're not going to be able to pay for it, then you should have the right to abort it no matter how it's life will turnout. Next, tax Increases on the rich. I live in a very wealthy area, and most people are extremely rich. I however, am not as up there as most of my classmates. At school, I hear so many people referring to Obama as a communists, who wants to "spread the wealth." I say that's ridiculous since if he was a communist he would eliminate everyone's salary and give everyone the same stinkin' pay. They're not the same at all people. Obama wants to help out the middle and low class, which by the way aren't necessarily lazy or stupid, but have had bad luck, racial setbacks, lack of educaton, ETC. Rich kids say they should keep the money they earn, because they worked hard for it. If you ask me, rich people haven't worked harder than poor people at all. If you're born rich, and have money that buys you a nice house, that sends your to a good school, and puts food on your plate, and money for college, and have everything handed to you on a golden plate, you're very likely to be successful. But how is that working hard?! If you're born poor, you have to get a par-time job, live in a crappy house or apartment, deal with racial setbacks, family setbacks, go to crappy schools/colleges, not get the job you deserve (possibly bcz of your race), struggle to eat, and deal with many other serious problems that are unheard of in rich communities. (ex. gangs, drugs, etc.) Yet on top of that, many of those americans bust their rear ends to try and change that, working multiple jobs, studying hard in school, and when they finally do make a big change to their long hard work, they get accused of not working hard enough, or being lazy. Ex. My parents came from a foreign country w/ nothing but the clothes on their back. The lived in a town home, with 3 of my dad's brothers and there 5 kids. The area was filthy, and infested with crime. With no opportunity to get an American education, they worked extremely hard at low-paying jobs. My dad worked at an airport to pay my mom's community college edu. My mom, later got employed at a healthcare clinic. My dad worked 65 hours and 7 days a week, while my mom worked from 6-4 balancing all of the house duties. That was 22 years ago, and now we're upper-middle class, not counting paying for our 3 kid's college education. I feel, Obama is aware of these situations, and that's why he wants to tax the upper class, to help support the hard-working middle class. NO class in American is lazy. If someone works that hard, they should have every right to get financial aid from the govt. for college education, like Obama wants to. (100 hours of community service gives you $4000 for College tuition) That $4000 is what's gonna come out of people who make $200,000 a year or more. Not to mention, the $10,000,000,000 a year we'll save once we get our troops out of Afghanistan. Also, i hear plain stupid racism from kids who say things like, blacks are poor because they're stupid. That's not true, they have 200 years of slavery setback. Ok here is the problem with homosexuality/heterosexuality. Most people are not exclusively one or the other. You can do homosexual acts and not identify as being homosexual. You can also identify as being homosexual but not do homosexual acts. This is true for two men who might not have anal sex because the act itself is more likely to cause stds. Lets also think about where in the world somebody lives. In some places like Polynesia young males will give fellatio to other males and swallow their semen, so the act its self is homosexual because it is too humans born with the same genitalia doing stuff to each other sexually but they might not self identify as being gay. You need to look at the kinsey scale to see how gay/straight somebody is. Also think about people who reallly don't self identify as being gay, but they are told by others that they are, well then they could use that as an excuse if they find the same kind of person, they just wouldn't do the actual sexual acts with them. You also have to see if that person is homosexual/gay/lesbian through nature or is it more through nurture. I think how you feel is through your own nature/psyche. Its society that determines what is appropriate and will not be judge harshly of how you use sexually use your body with somebody else. Another thing to look at it would be if two people of the same sex got married do they have to self identify as being sexually into the same sex and emotionally, and physically attracted to the same sex and only to the same sex. Also could you have two lipstick lesbians or do you have to have one lipstick and one butch lesbian? Can you have one macho man and one pansy or can you have two pansies and two macho men? Many people would argue that two lipstick lesbians are not even lesbians in how the self indentify its just two girls who are close to each other and have had issues with men. Just like some men who do homosexual acts under the table are very macho and just like the feel certain sexual acts. Lets also keep in mind that that your gender and sex do not always go hand in hand. A male can be feminine or masculine and still be heterosexual. same thing for a female. You can also have a male who is very masculine and be gay and a female is very feminine and self identify as a lesbian. I remember reading in time magazine that the reason why two gay men whether the self identify as being psychologically gay or just do acts with each other should not get married because they are more likely to phycially cheat on each other because a gay male is always looking for a new penis to satisfy him. I hate to say it, but it seems kind of true, because a lot self identify gay men have had a lot of partners more so then heterosexual men. Now two women might have an easier time not straying from each other sexually because they understand what it feels like emotionally to have sex and have somebody leave you. It is just that because women tend to bicker and get hormonal they get annoyed being around each other and would want somebody else to go to. See, marriage is not just about somebody being born with certain genetalia, its that you need a balance. My aunt worked for the CDC, and my Uncle was a state at home dad. Of course being the youngest child of the family and would have been the mostly likely candidate for being gay and was accused by his own mother of being gay,even though he was not or never felt that way, he just was not a hyper masculine male. Just like my mom grew up as tomboy and wears the pants in the family and my dad was a mommas boy, but still can get very rough and scolding at times. Lets also think about Divorce between gays. Somebody might support the idea of gay marriage because then that might give more opportunities for lawyers to deal with divorce cases. However, would a divorce case among two people of the same sex be the same as two people between opposite sex? Who would get the children, if there are any? Would there be any alimony and would both try and ask for it, or would one get it over more than the other. Do the two people themselves decide if their marriage is equal opportunity of if one is going to play the more feminine role and is the other going to play the more masculine role, or is there role decided by the church.court, or their peers. To me you could have a chapstick lesbian like Ellen who comes off more as the "man" in the relationship vs "portia" who plays more of a female in the relationship. Most republicans seek to maintain, establish, and perpetuate forms of disenfranchisement for the following groups of people: 1. women--wanting to take away a woman's right of choose to have an abortion even in the case or rape or incest, equal wages for women; 2. gays & lesbians---giving them full citizenship rights including the right to marry and adopt children (especially since they have to pay income taxes, property taxes, school taxes.....if they are not going to have full citizenship rights.....why take their money?); 3. non-white minority groups, e.g. African-Americans, Hispanics, etc. through unfair employment discrimination practices, unequal education opportunities, housing discrimination, not offering bilingual education when necessary (but rather having smart non-English speaking kids labeled as mentally retarded which would then forever prevent them from climbing the educational/economic/social ladder in our society); 4. people of other faiths (or people who ascribe to no faith)--by imposing a narrow Puritanical version of Christianity and not respecting freedom of religion upon which our nation was built; 5. people who do not believe in the death penalty and waging war---not respecting the personal views of individuals regarding the sanctity of life by calling these people weak or unpatriotic; 6. intellectuals who seek to teach true science--evolution, not creationism a theory only subscribed to by people of faith, and comprehensive sex education instead of abstinence-only---most republicans are pro-life yet they cut most social services necessary to ensure the health and welfare of non-aborted children.....which is more cruel or evil? aborting prior to birth or letting these unwanted children suffer the harsh realities of our world without food, clothing, shelter? why not at least teach and arm students with knowledge of sex including contraceptives in the event that they do enage in sex---who knows you might not only save an unwanted preganacy, but also have the teenager from contracting a life-threatening STD which could kill them; and 7. people who do not have affordable and reliable good health care---making them choice how they would like to die---bt not eating, not taking their medications, not having clothing or shelter..... Why are these issues of no importance to republicans? Why are most republicans so calculating callous? The demographics of our nation is shifting quickly. Soon white republicans will be out numbered by non-whites. White republicans will be the minority. Will we see another kind of apartheid emerge on the political horizon of the US? Some argue that one already exists. I have been a republican for almost 30 years now. I am very unhappy with the changes that have been sustained to my party over the years, especially when it comes to religion. Religion is a private matter and should not be the center-piece of a political agenda. I do not like nor do I appreciate a political party who believes that they are on God's side. Such a mentality reminds me of other religious zealots throughout the world.....and I do not like that. Radicalism of any kind infects and causes disease. The issue of homosexual behavior has had a lot of publicity of late. Homosexuals say that the slaves have been freed and women have been liberated, so gay rights are long overdue. Society does seem to be moving in that direction. Many homosexuals are “coming out” and openly declaring their homosexuality. In many parts of the western world, homosexual couples receive the same recognition as heterosexual couples with regard to social security benefits. Some church leaders are giving their blessing to homosexual relationships, homosexual church members and even homosexual ministers. And this all makes me very sick. I was shocked when I turned on TV today to watch one of my favorite programs and there was an interview with a lesbian actress... And that's not all... They actually showed a report about 2 lesbian women who had a child... The whole thing made me sick! Such a respectable channel, too... Why do the media have to condone homosexuality? They make it sound as if it's something you inherit like your DNA when in fact it is nothing more than a choice. To the extent that biological or social factors may contribute to a person's bent toward homosexual behavior, this does not excuse it. Some people have a strong bent towards stealing or abuse of alcohol, but they still choose to engage or not engage in this behavior the law rightly holds them accountable. Since other groups who have been discriminated against (such as women, blacks and the disabled) have been given equal opportunity, homosexuals claim that they, too, should be liberated. However, as one Christian expert has said … “Gender, race and impairment all relate to what a person is, whereas homosexuality relates to what a person does.” It's a choice. The final report of the Baptist Union of Western Australia (BUWA) Task Force on Human Sexuality, for example, states “that a person becomes a homosexual ultimately by choosing to be involved in same-sex activity… This is in contrast to innate characteristics such as gender and ethnicity.” The report affirms that “the Bible is clear that sin involves choice, and it unequivocally condemns homosexual behavior as sin.” Homosexuality is not innate. It's a sin, and the Bible makes that quite clear. Acceptance of sin as normal behavior makes mockery of God's order and creation. As with all moral issues, our beliefs about our origin determine our attitude. If we believe that we arose from slime by a combination of random chance events and the struggle for survival, it is understandable to say that there is no higher authority, and we can make our own rules. However, if there is a loving God who planned us and gave commands for us to follow, then we must do so. God has set forth His standards in the Bible, beginning with the foundational teaching in the book of Genesis. I just want to know what you think about it. I was so confused at first because everyone keeps saying that this is okay but then I thought "Hey, wait a minute! What about the Bible? What did God have to say about it?" Resolved Question: What do you think about the Putative Father Registry laws that we have?

For those who are not familiar with Putative Father Registry laws, these laws allow unmarried men and women who have had heterosexual sex to have equal opportunity in having a child. Here's an example to help explain what I mean. Say I go and have a one night stand with random girl X from a club. A couple of months later, I find that the girl is pregnant and she has the child. She decides to give the child up for adoption because she doesn't want it. You find out that she is going to send the child to adoption but you can't stop it because you are not the registered father with that child. This law allows you to sign up with the state so that those who want to take care of their children, mostly men in this case, are able to do so. Another example would be having a random sex encouter with a woman, she gets pregnant and then marries another man. The child is obviously not the married man's child but my child (Using me as an example again). So I keep in contact with my child, I'm always there for my kid, I help with child support, etc..and I Do this because I want to be that child's father. Well the woman and the other man take me to court and want full custody of the child. Now I didn't register with the state to say that I am the father and as a result, they are awarded full rights to our child (the woman and mine) while I lose out on the opportunity to watch my child grow up. This law, again, allows equal provisions for a couple, who have had sex without being married or anything, to be treated as if they WERE married and granted the same rights as if they were married. Do you feel that Putative Father Registry laws are fair? Is this one of the ways men, who absolutely love their children, get their equal rights provided to them in family law? How can we as a nation decrease taxes and increase school opportunity for giving equal education for kids that as she calls "special'? Could it be we are spending too much (its higher per student on special ed) on special ed denying other children a less then excellent education? Would it be better to give the parents the money per student and let them hire someone more geared on a one and one basis ? Can you help me understand how we can give equal to someone that will never be equal? I m not trying to be insensitive, since I have family and know other family with autism, which is much like what we used to call retardation, is there a difference? I have a real idea of what I m talking about and not insensitve and work with and for all people and special people do deserve special treatment, and I have only seen severe autism with llittle progress and tens of thousands spent, in a single yr. I wrote: The climate in America has become stagnant in that there's been a decrease in our actual culture. Education has been watered down dumbed. Americans have become soft-ists to the point of a complacency. Industry in only a shadow of what it once was. Jobs are being shipped over seas at even increasing rates. The majority of jobs available fall into either the technical sales or service industries. In a way economically speaking its like selling air there's no true value as you would have in a industrial economy. The idea is to invest in the people. Obama is asking the elite wealthy of the country who has been so good to them to contribute just a bit more 3% not as a punishment but a patriotic act. Obama proposals or plan is to invest in the people by redistributing a small portion of wealth to the youth the future of America. Investing in education, infrastructure, science and technology. Investing in small business creation leveling the playing field. Simply making small farmers capable of competing in the food markets. Obama's plan will create a whole new renaissance in America To create a new era of enlightenment as such is a renaissance you must start with the youth. By improving the elementary level of education and making it available to ALL Americans will flood our universities thus creating the era of knowledge and arts. Your thoughts? I agree they represent part of America, but I think it is the worst part. The part that support the status quo even when it dosen't work. Seriously. Who were the great Americans of history? People like Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine, Abraham Lincoln, Susan B Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, and Martin Luther King Jr. These people were not status quo conservatives. They were liberals, radicals, and progressives who tore down traditions and changed America for the better. Jefferson - expanded rights, preferred to tax the rich only, believed in public education, was anti-fundamentalism/religion Paine - expanded rights, wanted to use government to give poor people opportunity, was anti-slavery and anti-fundamentalism/religion Lincoln - used the power of the federal government to expand rights to blacks, destroyed southern backward state rights, was part of the RADICAL REPUBLICAN Party of the NORTHEAST (not like today's southern party) Anthony/Stanton - progressives who stood against traditions that put women down without rights. Stanton in particular even wrote the Women's Bible because she believed the Bible as taught by conservatives was the greatest obstacle to equal rights for women. Teddy Roosevelt - used the power of the federal government to protect the environment, regulate big business, and give the average working man a leg up with such things as a minimum wage, workman's compensation, etc. Franklin Roosevelt - continued doing the same things as Teddy by passing legislation to protect against another Great Depression, outlawing child labor, helping out the average joe, and getting people back to work. Martin Luther King - railed against conservative Republicans Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan for turning the Republican Party to the right and kissing up to the KKK.
