Open Question: None of my xbox 360 controllers connect.....HELP?

Neither of my controllers, both wired and wireless, dont connect. You can turn on the xbox via the xbox guide button on the controller. Yet once you do, the controller never connects, and just flashes on and off. The wired controller is plugged in correctly, and the wireless controllers still dont connect via the "connect" buttons on the controller and the xbox. what is the problem??? none of them want to connect. more

Open Question: Modded xbox 360 controller please help it's messed up.?

Okay i decided to mod my xbox 360 wireless controller it's white with a green micro chip on the insides. i sautered 1 wire to the top of the center point on the bottom right side. then one to the right side of the 2 points just below it to the left. it didnt work rite. for one. my right trigger had no use at all unless i was holding din the switch. also the switch would shoot randomly only every so often. its to unreliable to even attempt. so i did as the guide said and moved the second wire to the top point on the left side of it. right above where my first wire was on the middle point of the 3 points. it's now doing basically the same thing sept now i can't run or knife on cod5. what did i do wrong? i saurtered to seperate 22 gauge wires to the push button switch on each prong not touching then put one sautered it to the tip of the little thing and the other 1 to the other tip. they're not touching. so what should i try? please help. ASAP more

Voting Question: Xbox Guide Frezze - Is this a good solution?

Whenever i click the middle button the controller to bring up the Xbox Guide it freezes either for about a minute or i have to restart my console, I done some research and many say this problem occurs due to overheating, so i felt my Xbox after 'gaming' for a while and yes it became hot. I foudn out you can get a NYKO INTERCOOLER than has cooling fans to prevent your Xbox overheating, but there have been mixed reviews on the product, ranging from very poor, to brilliant. So do you think this product will help solve the Xbox Guide freezing issue? I need your input, thanks!The freezing is definately due to overheeating so will the NYKO INTERCOOLER help? more

I'm selling my xbox 360 arcade with 20gb hard drive, all the cables, 2 wireless controllers, battlefield bad company gold edition, left 4 dead, guitar hero 3 legends of rock with guitar, and a mnt condition halo 3 strategy guide? all of it is in perfect shape exept for left for dead, it has no scratches but also has no case.. im selling it for 275 but do you think it's worth more or less?I just found an 8gb memory card and the original box, i think maybe i could get 300 for it now more

Resolved Question: why does my xbox 360 restart automatically when i change TV Channels?

I have my 360 connected via HDMI AND Component (by scratching off its cover) to be able to connect Optical Audio (as some of you may have done). Everytime i change TV channels from HDMI to regular TV, my 360 re-starts; this also happens most of the time when i shutdown my 360 (via regular hold-guide button on controller and shutdown console), it just restarts. I have to quickly run after shutting it down to the power outlet to plug it out everytime i have to shut it down. more

Resolved Question: How do you permanantely change the way achievements are ordered?

If you press the middle button on the Xbox 360 controller, the guide button, it takes you to a menu. Scroll to your games slide and click achievements, pick a game. The action for the Y button will say Change Sort Order either by date or gamerscore... Whenever i go out of this menu it always changes to my achievements sorted by date, how do i permanantely change it so they are sorted by gamerscore??? more

Does anyone know where I can maybe solder the transistor so that my guide button lights up only when I turn on the controller. Bcuz right now, I have a resistor soldered to it and I need the transistor to make it turn on and off when the controller turns on or off. Basically, I need to know where do I solder the transistor so that I can turn it on and off when ever I turn on the controller? Okay, I got a used GH Aerosmith guitar from GameStop so when I get the money, I can play GH:Metallica with the guitar (not a controller). I went home loaded the GH:M demo I downloaded, hit the Xbox guide button (that turns it on) and the lights started blinking. They danced around the center button and flashed and stuff, but didn't stay on a light like they normally do with controllers. Most of all, it completely didn't work with the demo. I thought it was the guitar, so I exchanged it for a GH:III LoR guitar...SAME THING....I'm a newbie to using the 360 guitars and I need to know whats going on here...any help? more

Resolved Question: Major Xbox 360 problems. Please help?

Hi, my xbox started acting up today. I was playing fallout 3 and it started freezing. I tried pressing the guide button in the middle of the controller...nothing happened. Then I inserted the disc (disc is clean) again, started it up...same thing happened again. I set my xbox in the vertical position and removed all things near it that might cause it to over heat (its in a good place too)....it froze again! I cleared the cache on my memory card (currently hard drive)...same thing happed again. Now I try to turn the dang thing on and it wont even open up to the xbox 360 menu. It just stays on the white screen with the opening sound of turning on your 360. And its not the RRoD. Since microsoft tech is closed today can you please help? 10 points more

ok so a while back my 360 e74'd on me a few days after my warranty expired. i have a gift certificate to futureshop which would make the cost of shipping it in to get fixed/replaced and the cost of just buying a brand new one about even. with that in mind, i took apart my xbox, followed some online guides + some of my own ideas and voila i fixed it myself, haven't had a problem with it for the past 3 days so far. now a i have a new problem. even tho nothing wrong has happened so far, i'm a lil wary of my 360 now cuz i dont kno if its just gonna red ring me again soon so im holding back on renewing my gold live membership and buying any new games. also, my mom is a lil upset cuz she thinks tampering with it could make it dangerous now and w/e. so basically my 360 is good for now but there is a chance i'll have to ditch it permanently. now, should i just buy another xbox if/when it dies or should i go for a ps3. the ps3 interests me cuz the graphics r xbox par and has free online and recharging controller. but the price tag is more than id want to pay and it'd put all my current 360 games to waste. but buying another 360 knowing how unreliable they are might just be a waste too. then again my current fixed xbox might be permanently fixed but i have no way of knowing. what would you do in my position? another thing; i'll be getting a new pc soon and the one im choosing is good enough to do fallout 3 on high, but i don't wanna buy it just for gaming, its just my last resort if i dont get a new console...should i just wait for that? more

I have an xbox 360 controller that will die on me sooner than it should. The guide button will flash and then after a while the controller dies, but the thing is is that the xbox guide menu battery icon is full! i thought that it would never happen to me! i didnt even buy that insurence! ok, so i was playing fallout 3, minding my own buisness, picking a lock when bam! the screen froze, and lines apeared up and down the screen. nothing i do with the controller responds. not even the middle guide button. i say, ok maybe it's the game. i shut off console, turn it back on and put in mass effect. it played fine for about 1 minute. then... frozen! please help! i am not one of those people who can simply buy another one. i dont have the money! more

I've been getting into this little kick where I've decided I'm going to change the lights of my guide button to different colors. I had white left over so I opened my black controller, store bought, and it had a black, almost mushroom plastic that held the screw in place. It held the PCB board in place so you could not remove to it mod it. Is there any way i can remove this little hicker from the controller? Even if i do lose a screw spot? more

I'm having a major issue with my Live account (given, it's not their fault, but it's not mine): I was cleaning my 360 controller (everyone knows about the grime that builds up in the "Start" and "Back" buttons). Well, apparently my finger slipped and hit the Xbox guide button, turning on my Xbox. I didn't notice it, or, if I did, didn't think anything of it. I continued cleaning the "Start" button. The TV, obviously was off, mind you. Anywho, apparently, Microsoft posted a "Deal of the Week" game on the first slot on the "Spotlight" tab of the NXE interface, and Start does the same function as "A." Somehow, after pushing Start several times in the cleaning process, I managed to blindly purchase a game called "Braid." I've never heard of this game in my life. I don't want "Braid." It sounds stupid even before I read about it. Well, MS won't refund me the 800 (read: EIGHT HUNDRED) Microsoft Points (that's $10!) because I was holding the controller. I cancelled the download at 1%, and MS won't do a thing! So, I need help finding the escalated (higher/lower number tier, not sure which is of higher importance) customer support number to get my $10 back and trash this crap-tastic game for good.UPDATE: What I mean by an escalated number is a number that a person can call to get issues resolved that can't be resolved by the normal customer service people, in this case: 1-800-4-MY-XBOX. With whom I was already on the phone for about an hour.@Maika S: Way to spam, bud. I'll be reporting your answer as soon as I'm done typing this. Perhaps Yahoo will ban you (one can only hope). Voting Question: my xbox controller'slights blink when i click on th guide button but stop when i release?

my controller stopped connecting in the midddle of gameplay and when i hold onto the guide button green lights blink around my controller but they stop blinking when i relase. i itried to connect my controller and it works for 10 seconds then my controller turns off and i just replaced the batteries with new ones. please help.i have already tried to sync my controller and the new batteries that i have replaced in the controller came right out of the container. the controller just died in gameplay and when i press on the guide button on the controller green lights flash on the controller but stop when i realease please help. more

Resolved Question: Is it the xbox 360 hard drive that is causing the problem, or is it halo 3 itself?

Ok, so when I put in my halo 3 game, it reads the disc, then goes to the halo 3 logo and it plays the bungie into, but when I try to press the A button to skip it, it won't do anything. then when the bungie intro is over, it goes to a black screen and won't go to the main menu. And from there I can't go to the dashboard either cause the guide thing won't show up when I press the guide button on the controller. So I have to turn the 360 off. So that's the problem.. Why is it doing that? I just got the game, brand new in perfect condition, doesn't make any sense. -.- But when I put in the game without the hard drive, it works fine. Wtf. And when I play other games with the hard drive on they work fine. It's just halo 3. I tried another halo 3 game and the same problem happens. Please can someone answer this question. more

Resolved Question: Help With Fixing XBOX - E74.?

My xbox has the e74 error. It is out of warranty so it would be 100 bucks to send it in plus the shipping cost. I decided im not doing this and i was going to sell it to the store for 40 bucks but you need the controller. The problem is that the controller costs 50 dollars itself. My last option was to buy one of these guides that help you fix your xbox. I just wanted to know what are the chances of me sucessfully fixing my xbox with the e74 error and how many of you have had this past experience. I am pretty good with fixing things but not amazing at it. thank you so much.If when I try and fix it it and that doesn't work I am just going to buy an arcade because I already have a Hard Drive. Im just asking what the percentage is that It will work if i try and take it apart and fix it. One more question. Is there any way that the hard drive could have corrupted the xbox? more

I was playing gears of war, and today randomly the rings of light around the guide button started flashing in a certain pattern. This pattern was 1,4 flashes then 2 and 3. This repeated until i waited or pressed the guide button. Is there something wrong with my controller? My xbox 360 recently got the red ring of death, but it was because I accidentally unplugged it while it was on.When my xbox 360 got the red ring of death, it was 3 rings, but I don't think it has a hardware failure as it came right after it was unplugged accidentally when there was a game active.The controller also clearly (hopefully) has battery in it, I pressed the guide button to check and it had 3 bars of battery. more

I have had my X360 since Christmas it is working good till of course I am having fun I was playing Bioshock about 3-4 days ago and It freezes while I was in Arcadia and I pressed the guide button nothing I unplugged it waited about 20-30 min and I plugged it back up and it has been working fine till I started playing GTA 4 and it froze while I was in the safehouse and the controller wasn't responding I pressed the guide button nothing I unplugged it waited about 20-30 min again and I plugged it back up I Have been playing it about everyday I didn't play it at all yesterday I Hope That This isn't the beginning of the end of my Xbox Should I leave it alone for a while or give up BTW I had an intercooler on it for about 3 days and it froze on bioshock the day I put it on I took it off because of it freezing Is It supposed to freeze every few days or is it the end of it more

Resolved Question: My Wireless Xbox 360 controller does not stay charged.?

Whenever my wireless Xbox 360 controller is blinking as it is low on batteries, I plug it into my Play and Charge. Oddly, in about 30-45 minutes, the Play and Charge has a green light on it like it is fully charged. So I unplug the Play and Charge, and in about 20 minutes, it is flashing like it is going to die again. So I press the guide button, and my controller still has 3 bars left. So it isn't about to die, but then it dies within 30 minutes. Can somebody help? more

Okay so i just started to play the XBOX 360. My friend game me an XBOX 360 elite fully equipped with the hdmi cable, 2 games, controller and a nice set of turtle beach ear force x3 headset. So what i'm trying to do now is currently set up the headset so I can use it on my Magnavox HDTV 1080p. However i'm running into some great problems. The normal game sound is coming through the t.v. speakers. I can't figure out how to set it up so that way I can use the headset. I have tried pluggin the white and red wires into AV1, AV2, AV3, and side panel and still i'm getting nothing. When i play on the xbox the channel i'm on is HDMI2. I know this is probably confusing but as you can tell i'm very confused myself. Does anyone have a how to guide or a website that I Could use to try and calibrate this so that way the sound comes into the headset only and I am able to use my mic. Please and Thank You! more

Voting Question: xbox 360 controller for pc wont work,Also tried switchblade pro?

Hi im having problems trying to make my 360 controller work on my pc. I connected my 360 controller and it installed everything automatically,and a pop up appears in the taskbar saying chrage via and play is ready to be used etc. So thats ok but in control panel under game controllers it wont show on the list.so obviously switchbalde wont recognize that the controller is plugged in. Im using my original xbox360 controller wired only. ive tried drivers etc but the 360 controller wont work for any games for windows nor does switchblade recognize tht its plugged in. Hey guys I just did my Xbox 360 controller in sharpie( I disassembled first with Torx T8H size hand bit.) So I just had the shell and there was no way of harming it. Now, I am going over it with an enamel, what kind of enamel or acryllic coat would be best? I will send pics of it to you if you want. I have had a Playstation 2 for a long time and I just recently bought myself an xbox 360, so i think it's time to get rid of the PS2. I wasn't sure where to start my bid because i don't want it to be to high where people won't bid on it, but i don't want it to be too low either and have had a chance to earn more money. Resolved Question: Rock Band 2 for xbox 360?

I just got rock band 2 for the 360. however, i can not get the guitar or the drums to connect to the 360. ive pressed the xbox guide button on the guitar and then pressed the connection button on the 360 and it still doesn't connect. i have gone through two different sets (i returned the first and got another one from another store) and none of them have been connecting. i figure there is somehting wrong with my xbox, but the thing is, i can connect my regular wireless controllers. what is the problem and what should i do?i just moved my 360 to another tv and hooked it up and now my regular controllers wont connect either. so its definitely my 360. i guess i have to contact Microsoft about it. is anything of this sort covered by the warranty. its just over a year old... more

i have some problems with my controller wireless "les paul" ...i tried the controller in the store and it worked correctly....but it doesn't work with my xbox.....i push the connection button in the console and in the controller .....but nothin appened....BUT when i push the xbox guide button on the guitar my xbox turn on automactly...but no leds turn on and my controller don't work...please helpppppi tried to push the ))) buttons buto it still not work...push....but nothing appened more
